SRV2 Siberian Reviews

I saw your groups in the other thread where you only used blank targets. Why is that?

Old drawing rolls on A0 size paper I kept for kids doodling and colouring.
One sheet pretty much covers the core-plast target backer at the range and I can just put 15 or so black pasters up and shoot a decent while without having to constantly go check the target.
The plain white background is ideal for clearly seeing shot placement with the spotting scope.

The statistics you put up is interesting reading for sure, and yes, there is considerable differences of opinion on what is 'right' and what is 'satisfactory' with respect to group reporting.
I doubt though that you'll ever convince a statistician that there can be too much info.

That's typically how I do targets for load testing - just flip a large silhouette target backwards. I like using the corner of the black paster for a crisp repeatable aiming reference.

One guy on fb raised the same question about the inconsistent targets I posted. Some were just for sighting in was the reply which I was not aware off. But I could see it later. Dummy me.

Anyhow, I sold my SL8 this weekend and bought a Siberian at the SFRC sale. I know what to expect and have no problem with it, may order some premium ammo just to see. I can't see myself spending $1K more on a Crusader or Sterling, plain and simple. I'd rather buy an Arken SH4 in the US which is about the price difference between the SL8 I sold to the Siberian I bought. Yes, my mind works like a bookkeeper, lol. The weight also plays a role to me. I sold the SL8 not because I did not like it but it is heavy and a money pit with all the add ons one "has to buy". It is like a disease spreading. I don't have to buy any magazines and there is lots of stuff available, cheap and expensive, just to bolt on basically. Don't mind some tinkering.

Has anyone pulled apart a Crusader? How is the barrel mounted and retained?

On page 19 of the Crusader manual, found here: https://www.crusaderarms.ca/manual-download - the exploded parts diagram shows a steel trunnion which is mounted to the upper receiver by eight bolts, four on each side. The barrel nut screws onto the trunnion, holding the barrel in place.

At least that is how I would interpret the diagram. I am not an experienced gun owner, but I have put effort into trying to learn the mechanisms and parts involved. I am happy to be corrected on my interpretation of the diagram.

Did you post this on reddit or was that another person? If you didn't then that makes for at least 2 that have broken gas blocks

I didnt post on Reddit, brand new rifle, under one box shot and got a cracked gas block. I went over the rifle prior to shooting. The gas block screws were tight and had factory lock-tite.

Still waiting on a replacement, communication with them has been lackluster.

Their service rep ( Carrie) is gone, to bad ,she was awesome.

Thank-you - yes, your evaluation seems bang on. It would be interesting to know how tight that trunnion is in the receiver; whether it is friction fit or pressed in and then bolted, but it sounds unlikely if fasteners walking out caused a wandering POI. I would rockset them in if they aren't due to the heat that could/would develop in that area.

Major blow to them unfortunately - she was a fantastic ambassador for BCL.

This and reports over more gas block failures made me cancel my order for the Siberian. I just wait and see. Not gonna deal with that. Cancellation fee was cheap.

What's going on at BCL? A friend of mine is trying to contact the customer service for days now, no reply?

Did they give up already and Carrie was just there to get things going and people getting sucked in?

Update: put the new FP into the rifle a little while ago, everything continues to function as it should at 1500rds. Will be getting out to shoot longer 300-600m next weekend to stretch her legs out.

Thanks for the report! Glad to hear that they're entering 1500+ round counts with no incidents after the replacement.

i just got a ship notification for my siberian. there is a good chance i will have updated firing fin. going to swap my vortex sparc2 from my ruger PCC for time being. I can use iron sights in my pcc for sometime.

otherwise, whats the good optics for siberian ? is scope a better option or red dot is still good ? i might have to push my aux purchases to a month or 2.
