What if the modification is to another antique cartridge. For example, I know a fellow in the US that has an original S&W 2nd Model American in 44 American, which had the chamber enlarged to accept the 44 Russian (which the same pistol was also originally chambered in). So the original 2nd Model American was originally chambered in both cartridges, but in this case, the one chambering was changed to the other. It seems to be that that would still be an antique.

I just had a chat with a CFO . 38 M&H has not been added to the no go list for antiques. The caliber list is legislation and cannot be changed by the RCMP or the Registry. .

The RCMP administer the registry and as such they do not have to obey the law. More to the point they can refuse to deregister a gun which the law says is an antique. Further to this, the CFC under its previous administration has told me that a registered antique is still a modern gun until deregistered. The gun in question was a Spencer in .53 rimfire (56-56) and made in the 1860's. It had been registered out of ignorance and now could only be removed from the registry by its deceased owner or presumably the executor of the will.

Hmmm a Antique Webley MKI 455 thats been converted to 45 ACP is still a perscribed antique

I have had lots of antique webleys that were converted to 45 acp that CFC knew were altered to 45 ACP and the Tecs give antique status to them all the time.
Ive seen lots of them sold with CFC Antique Letters stateing there Prescribed antiques

Maby if you changed a 41 long colt to a 38 Long colt then i agree as 38 LC is on the No caliber list.

Unless there talking about if YOU alter it yourself but that dont make sence either.

It would depend on who told you this at CFC someone that just answered the phone or a Tec.
