German Reticle

The used market might be better. Schmidt and bender used them once. I have a buddy with a 1980s vintage 2-12×56 ish (been years since I've seen it, so it's probably not exactly that) scope, 30mm tube, he'd probably sell it. But in all honesty, besides heavy bush hunting, it's not great... but that's my own opinion

Leupold Hunt plex and Pig plex are similar and I actually like them better than the German reticle or the old post and crosshair.
I have a couple of each in the straight tube 1-4 Freedoms.
Decent optics.

I’m a fan of #1 and #4 myself, I have a few in Leupold and other scopes… #1 being my favorite

Thanks for this.

I like the German #1. I don't know if a #4 is better than a duplex.

#1 is not as common today, the Illuminated #4's with a dot in the center instead of a cross hair is my preference but I'm more of a put the dot on the spot rather then aim just below the point of impact guy.

I bought a Bushnell Trophy XLT with 1.5 - 6 X 44 spec.
It had a "4 - A" Reticle which is similar in principle to what you want.
It has heavy lines but only on sides & bottom .Fine lines in the middle.

The no4 is basically a Duplex/crosshair at high magnification, but more optimized for fast target acquisition at low magnification, as they are usually found in FFP. It’s for similar reasons that Leupold chose that configuration for the Duplex.

I have found that I lose accuracy in low light with a #1 if the tip isn’t pointy enough.

I'm not sure it's a "German" reticle, but the 4A reticle offered in several scopes is my favorite hunting reticle. This is a #4-type reticle without hash marks and other distracting features. It's available in the Swarovski Z3, Z6, and Z8 scopes. I have it in my Z3 3-9x36 scopes.
