308s, moose, tikkas, and other boring ####

I am wanting a sako Battue lite in 308 for a carry rifle.

Bonus. I get to refer to it as "Le Battue" in a frenchy voice, along with "Le Savage." :D

OK that's a sweet rifle...does it come in 6.5x55 Swede? :)

why not pick up a standard model Tikka and have proper receiver sights installed? you could buy a blued Tikka at the new lower price, install a front sight/quality receiver sights and chop/crown the barrel for probably as much as the new Battue will cost you and end up with a more accurate gun with better sights.

the Battue wastes half the sight plane by installing the sights way out front on the barrel. ok it might track a bit faster but ehh.. id rather have better sights. just something to consider as an alternative - also more caliber choices (like the 6.5x55).

I need to find some time to get out to the range and do some shooting...too much work.:(

I have a 7mm RM Savage 110 project that is ready for load development. If it shoots good, I will re-finish it along with my Rem 870.

I need to try out my new Grizzly 870 with the 12.5" barrel. I just installed a "Bubba flashlight mount" on the forend and have a 4-shot side saddle coming for it.

I also need to get out and shoot this nice CZ75 in 9mm that I picked up a while back.

That's it for this year - just need to get out and shoot.

I just bought my first rifle, a lefty Tikka 7mm-08. It's sitting at the gun shop until my PAL arrives however :( . I also purchased my gramps a Tikka 30-06 which I plan to surprise him with this summer when I see him. My scope should arrive today, a Nikon buckmaster 3-9x40 in stainless finish. Aside from that I'm trying to figure what I need for rings and looking forward to buying every single box of 7mm-08 ammo I find for the range

I can't seem to find anything new this year to crank me up... maybe I'll see something at the show. I am thinking that I should invest a 20 gauge slug gun... I like the Benelli pump guns.

I did scoop a nice 444S used for a ridiculous price... don't ask. The wood has some honest wear but the bore and bluing are perfect. The action is wicked smooth and I am gonna shoot Hornady Leverevolution ammo. I like the pistol grip and the 24 inch barrel... I have wanted one of these oldies since I shot Toomers on the steel range at 400 yards... unbelievably accurate guns.
Mine has a Williams Peep on it unlike the generic photo below... I am gonna put a 1-6 Leupold on it for sure.

i know its technically not a lever but a lever-operated bolt gun, but for you lever fans this might be an interesting addition:

BLR takedown, takes down in seconds, available in modern calibers, and easily scope-able. as soon as i find one with a PG stock im picking one up for myself as a pack gun. i normally prefer straight gripped but the PG ones seem a little nicer in terms of fit/finish.

Scope a lever gun?
Geeze, I thought we had you educated!
:D

Maybe if I had your hawk like vision JC I could get away with the peeps...;)
Seriously, I shot the 356AE with both the peep and the 1-6 Leup and I found I had just as fast if not faster acquisition time and was considerably more accurate using the glass. For what it's worth that Winchester AE is an MOA lever gun with the glass on it.
You bastards are turning me into another John Wayne wannabe....:slap:

Thinking of a 264 mag to go into my collection of 6.5's....could even end up being a 6.5 Rem mag custom....don't know yet. I'm just cookin' waiting for that 260 Rem 700 Ti. The 257 LSS will be a nice toy to play with as well.....got my Remington loaded ammo already purchased...just waiting on it to be delivered to the store. It worked out to be a hell of a lot cheaper than Weatherby ammo and no soft brass from Norma with expanding primer pockets.

It comes in:

Medium 308 Win, 338 Federal
Short Magnum 300 WSM
Long 270 Win, 7x64, 30-06, 9.3x62
Magnum 300 Win Mag

Hey now I recognize that rifle...A few months ago some guy at the range had one in 300 win mag. Pretty nice. He was having trouble with his leupold scope mounts that seemed to shear off, but overall it was a nice rifle.

The iron/glow sights were bright. :)

I didn't get to try it, but I'm sure I'd rather keep to a semi auto for the 300 win mag as I'm not a fan of recoil.

I have found a Sako Browning pencil barrel in........222 Rem. Would like to move a BRNO ZKK 601 first though.

Its 222 season :) Santa Doug showed up at the shop lastnight and dropped off a nice little 1975 BDL in 222 rem. Even some ammo and dies. Im going out to shoot it this weekend, and Im pretty sure my 22-250 is getting sold :) I have a hogue from Chilly to go on it cause the wood is still in good shape... (with me it wouldnt be for long :) ) I traded for a centrefire shaver, and I love it so far... ;). The trigger isnt bad at all, in fact, im not going to touch it yet until I shoot it. (Im runnin away from magnums like a fox from a forest fire) I's gots a new piggy guhn :)

I think its gonna put a few to sleep (but thats my browning 243 ;) )

for some reason .222 and .243 are the most popular varminting calibers with most of the people i know here in Ontario. either there was some huge marketing push on these guns in the 70s or its just dumb luck :)

having seen both in action countless times, the .243 gives far more... erm.. spectacular kills. stepping down from that to a .222 is going to be a little disappointing for you in terms of impact.

is that an old tow-truck in the background?

im picking one up for myself as a pack gun. i normally prefer straight gripped but the PG ones seem a little nicer in terms of fit/finish.

And you're going to assemble your pack gun when it's called on to be what a pack gun needs to be? The bear won't care if it's straight-gripped, Monte Carlo'd 24 LPI or not - he'll cover 100 yards in 4 seconds. How fast can you find, assemble, load and shoot that thing:confused:

No, I was sitting, trying to balance rifle and line up shot. I didn't notice how off it was until I had it on PC.

It's true!
