Sako has made many different quality models, series , actions and various stocks

What Sako did you get ..or want
Your favorite/why
Pics are nice too

The late A series are my favourites. They have a bit better designed stock, triggers can go low with a bit of filing, heavy and sporter weight barrels. The A1 is especially good for small calibres.

Have an Aiii but would be happy with an L or AV.

Wouldn't kick an 85 blackbear out of the safe either

The A7 is a great "budget" gun straight from the factory and before prices went nuts they often sold for less than Tikka t3 lites

the only one I have is the AV , love the flat fore stock and the action
and the checkering is unreal
will post pics soon

Agreed the A7 in the roughtech synthetic stock was good value before they were discontinued

The rough techs on the A7 were carbon Fibre right?

I had and liked the soft touch stock, which is apparently unusual. I've always been a little off though :dancingbanana:

I thought they were fibreglass similar to a hs or bell carlson. A bit heavy but really nice shape. Goofy square cut toe on the recoil pad though

I had an obsession with Sakos and have owned a handfull. I currently have a carbonlite in 300 wm which shoots 3 holes touching with a certain load, and I have a 270 wsm in a Finnlite that I havent shot yet because its so difficult to find ammo. I had a Greywolf in 300 win mag which shot equally as good as the carbonlite. I love the 85 action and wouldnt buy any other Sako model.

I owned a few that I REGRETTABLY sold and didnt even shoot such as a carbonlite in 7mm08 and a Finnlite in 7mm rem.

Lots of really nice rifles!

Always had a thing for an 85 Hunnter in 6.5x55 or a Bavarian carbine in 308. Never pulled the trigger.

I had models 85 in the Bavarian and Grizzly, 300 WSM and 30-06. Currently I own a Finnbear Deluxe, originally chamber in the 338 Win. Mag., re-barreled with a Bob Jury stainless steel barrel, to a 7mm Rem. Mag.

I’ve used an Aii in 308 for the last 25 years. It was a gift. Awesome rifle with really nice figured wood in the stock. It’s the only Sako I’ve owned.

without me searching all over . Do you know the diff in the Finnbear deluxe and the AV deluxe .
I think I seen a pic of yours , beauty

AVs for me. I’m a model 70 guy but still like the old Sakos. Just shortened the barrel and am waiting to have sights put on a . 416 REM Fiberclass………push feed! Hahaha

I had a Sako L579 Forester in 7-08 with a Leupold 2.5-8 on it ! BEAUTY RIFLE . Shoot several deer with it .
Also built a Custom 22-250 with a L579 single shot action - Shilen SS 26 “ Match Grade barrel -HERTERS Laminated stock and a LEUPOLD 12x scope It accounted for a truck load of Wood Chucks -Marmots and Yotes ! RJ

had a sako a7 stainless in 270 wsm that did 5 shots in the .6-.7" ctc with several factory ammos, good rifle, fit well, shot well to 930 as far as I took it, that's all I got, never did scrounge up money for the 75/85s but always wanted one and loved their bottom end/magazine system, best around if detach mag your thing imo, built the sum##### up as my ~800 yard speed dial sheep rig (with extra data to go 1000 for play under shell holder) to go across the basin if needed, killed my ram with it at 35 yards...did kill a ewe at 311 I think too with that one but never did dial it...olh wait, I did kill a coyote at 620 with it...still my longest kill, really no desire to go much past 400 for quite some time now

Many years ago first really quality rifle I bought was a Sako Finnbear 30/06. Tried it with several different factory loads and EVERYTHING shot into an inch or so shade more. I was to inexperienced to know how good that is and sold it stupidly.
