SHOT.........FN SCAR....and.....HK.....goodies

wasn't impressed with the SCAR, looks aside the thing is way too bulky for what it is, trim off the fat it could be a decent rifle. The Magpul/Bushmaster ACR oj the other hand is one well designed piece of kit. The rumor mill at SHOT has it lined up for production with a chance of export. I'll save my pennies for one rather than the FN abomination.

really?I am willing to put cash down on a ACR if it is NR:D

The G36 is quite light, likely the lightest rifle of the lot that I handed there. Also got a chance to shoot the FS2000, the dam inspection port on top of the stock kept trapping my mostache hairs and yanking them everytime I fired the gun!!

The DSA booth with all of the tricked out FN/FAL's is what turned my crank.

You mean the toilet seat poop shoot cover? :p :p

I think we'll probably have an easier time getting the new ACR into Canada than the SCAR, especially with FNs close connection with the DOD. Does anyone know where the primary manufacturing facility is going to be for the SCAR? If its outside the US, we might have a decent shot, if FN-USA builds 'em, I don't think we'll have a chance in hell of ever seeing one north of the border, unless something drastic changes in the US State Dept.
Low volume prototypes are currently made in Belgium. Will likely move to the US for full production.

Any news on HK's civvy version of the 416?

German made right now. There IS a civvy version planned, and it will be US made. If it is well received, they will do a 417 also

Ergonomic-wise, the Masada/ACR is definitely ahead of the FN SCAR. Magpul really get their industrial design together. I cut myself when I tried to agressively engage the charging handle of the SCAR-L.

On the other hand, from the mechanical engineering perspective, the Masada/ACR is largely untested by a 3rd party. While theoretically the system is sound, the QD barrel mechanism has not been subjected to any publishable independent testing.

In that sense, the FN SCAR is probably a safer bet if you want a serious weapon at this moment. I am interested in seeing Masada/ACR performance once it has finished the same testing - at least that is what Rich said in another d-board. I am sure a few things will be changed, as usual, after some testing.

At this point, I really want to see how the HK416 civilian version will unfold, but I suspect that despite all the new toys, the original AR15 will still be the main stay for the years to come, especially with the ever increasing restrictions on US export.
