The next cartridge you would like Hornady to develop

One thing interesting about these new ones. It seems the prc calibers are going to be a family, the only remotely popular next creedmore appears to be the 6mm creedmore.
Many seem to be ballistic twins of old calibers. Often a bit slower, but with match chambers and fast twists. So why not simply keep doing what we have been for decades.....rebarrel old calibers with fast twist and match chambers.

A 260ai, with fast twist,would kick 6.5 creedmores hind.

we're barely smart enough to put the right ammo in the right rifles, it would be too much confusion to match ammo to twists....'this old rifle shotgun patterns that ammo, it's garbage!'....ya don't say ;)

Exactly. The same reason they didn't just re-twist the .270 WSM and made ammo with heavy high BC bullets. Ammo manufacturers didn't want to sell high BC ammo that average Joe would load in his first gen .270 WSM and then claim that Federal ammo is #### cause they can't hit paper at 100 yds.

To a limit. Super fast varmit bullets in fast twist rifles have been known to literally come apart.

The new....???? 8.6 something. A 338 bullet in a blown out 6.5 creedmore case. Big boy version of 300 blackout. Twisted 1:3. What sort of bullet construction with that. Not sure if bullets for that would work in typical 338's. If I was getting one, I would get several thousand bullets. If it flops as a caliber, bullets would be discontinued, and you would be left with a expensive jack handle.

No issues. They shoot 160 and up just fine.

Be interesting to see how much that fast twist helps a bullet open up.

I wonder if we will see more twists like that as copper bullets gain popularity and or become mandated

Every review of it I see mentions it's awesome power blah blah but they're by AR guys comparing it to subsonic 300 blackout

The only truly obscure ballistic ideas purpose built for suppressors, ARs and the like I'm interested in is the 375 raptor. With 235's it is a 338 fed and 358 win competitor/ killer. New king and all that

My only complaint with that cartridge is it reminds me I can't hunt with it from an AR, using a suppressor, or both.

The rate of twist/copper bullets question is interesting.

Edit: Be just as happy using 338 Fed tho. Probs more so. Not much interest in the subsonics.

Dang tootin'. I'm not into centerfire autos for hunting as I hate chasing brass. Having the option of suppressors though is a big deal for saving ones ears. Too bad we be in a repressive country run by corporate overlords & socialist pukes.

So would a 6.5/06 or 264 Magnum but that won't make them more successful.

Absolutely true. IMO, for a reloader and tinkerer..err, the real benefit of some of these new calibers is the new bullet development that sees high bc, heavy bullets. Mostly they are target or very soft bullets, one can hope to see actual heavy hunting bullets.

Might be this thread, but a YouTube video had Reloading Weatherby stabilize iirc 165 accubond out of a standard twist 270win. My 264 wears a Ron Smith gain twist, but what bullet? Currently I run 140/130 partition and accubond. I'm not sure, to go with Hornady again, that there is any difference between the heavy 6.5 eldx and eldm.

Would I buy a 300prc or 6.5prc? Absolutely, but since I'm a hunter and already own a 300 wm and 264wm I'm not seeing a useful enough difference.
