What's in the Shop This Week

I am indescribably pleased to be the caretaker of that rifle. I would usually say it's one that'll "go in the box with me", but burying such a thing would be an offense to art and beauty.

Between Dad and I, we own a few rifles and shotguns. The goal is to own fewer, better pieces. I sold a few lesser rifles to finance this build. I couldn't be happier. Paul is an artist and talented technician, making beautiful things out of ideas and raw materials. My hope is that he'll take on another project of mine soon.
 
As in it's own thread below, I am very pleased to be adding the manufacture of bolt bodies for the Tikka Platform to my product line up!


The more I’ve worked with these actions the more impressed I’ve become with their build quality and consistent tolerances. Couple that with the single action length,
the only missing link to making these rifles a true, switch barrel platform has been the lack of availability of bolt bodies with different bolt face diameters.


I’ve had the privilege of being able to inspect/measure many Tikka rifles coming through my shop and, over time, have accumulated
a sizable library of dimensional data and tolerancing variance.


My bolts are dimensioned to hit the middle of that bell curve, ensuring the best compatibility with factory “take off” barrels and the growing number of aftermarket prefits available today.
That said, These are NOT sold as a “drop in” part.
Indeed, anytime a barrel is installed, headspace MUST be verified by a qualified person using appropriate gauges.


My T3 bolt bodies are CNC machined from 4340 and Nitrided for excellent long term durability and corrosion resistance. They are available in both Left and Right hand configurations and with .223, .308 and Belted Magnum bolt face diameters.

Internal bolt parts are not included, but are interchangeable regardless of bolt face diameter. You can swap out from your existing bolt in a couple minutes, or order a spare set.

These are billet machined and have a picatinny top allowing modern optics/rings to be used on your 340 series rifles.

Tikka Bottom Metal

This was a Lefty 700 I put together last week. trued up the action, 8Twist KS Arms barrel finished @27", chambered in 300PRC. Custom muzzle brake, deep helical fluting on barrel and bolt, Trigger Tech trigger, bedded into a B&C stock.

I believe it is currently out on an Elk hunt.
 
Most projects look much the same after a while, but we're still trucking along here!
Aside from customer projects, I've been working on developing a number of new products. Here's one I just finished...

A winter trigger guard version of our Tikka T3/x bottom metal!


You can see the difference between this and the standard version. This one provides significantly more room to work with gloves in cold weather.


Clean, simple, elegant... and made from billet 416 stainless steel.
