Replacing a frame

... What Ruger did with a rifle (looonnggg before the latest OIC) doesn't have much bearing since they are literally in different classes and situations.

Not necessarily much bearing, agreed. But it does tell us that a manufacturer CAN supply a replacement frame with the same serial number.

Even if a company were to manufacture a replacement frame with the same S/N, I believe the next hurdel would be importing the frame. ...

It's not being imported, it's the same frame.

My legal advice is worth exactly what you paid for it, though!

Someone contacted Glock as was mentioned. The OP hasn't shared who made the frame in question if this isn't speculative.

I contacted Gravel and they told me a replacement won't happen.

Now is it due to the government freezing imports of handguns over the boarder or because you cannot transfer? I don't know.

*edit*

Further contact with them. It sounds to me it's the importing restriction, that is preventing replacement of frames.

We can not import and serial numbered parts.

The only issue I take is that his information is pre-ITAR as per the other frame replacement themed thread. That's some old info with fundamental changes to the process done in the meantime.

Sounds like the OP does indeed have an issue unfortunately. I think change of government (if they even bothered) or possibly an attempt by someone competent to fuse the damage is the only way out.

If make, model, serial, calibre and barrel length matched it'd be functionally identical and match the current registration, which means import would be allowed... I'm not sure how the government would legally or practically differentiate it from any other warranty repair.

Practically, they will do it by simply denying any attempt. This was an idealogical and personal move against our community. Expecting understanding, fairness and logic is likely to leave you disappointed. Legally, I don't know what would not allow them to deny it, considering what GAC did.

I believe that many warranty centers dont have blank frames and require a new one imported from the States or Europe. With them banning the importation of handguns. It halts replacement being issued.

It raises a question. The only approved end-users are named specifically but no mention of warranty centers. Would that mean a warranty center couldn't do work involving frame replacement even for an approved end-user? What a mess.

Knowing our goobermint it wasn’t an accident that things are how they are, not allowing for clear rules with regards to existing guns and warranty or frame replacement are not accidental. Anything to make life harder for us is a given.

The frame IS the firearm, and because the government is retarded I'm sure they would consider it being imported. Imagine the hassle of getting it through customs.

But I hope I'm wrong.
