This just hit the market officially today. If you are in the market for a new chronograph you need to check it out. I know several people that were on the testing crew and everyone was extremely impressed.

Retail is 600 USD and I read 800 CAD.

That is really cool.
Love my Labradar, but if this does everything it does at 1/20th the size and none of the niggles it's a no-brainer.

We have some coming that should arrive on the 24th, three unspoken for at the moment. email mark@nechakooutdoors.ca if you'd like one, $799.95+tax (*edited, now all available units on first shipment sold out 10/20/23)

I look forward to comparing it head to head with my Labradar

Bought one off the garmin website with a 1 day shipping, hoping to get it inby monday to put it to use next tuesday at the range

Nope.

You paid for one day shipping once it becomes available to ship. You may have it by end of the month.

I am in the same boat.

This looks pretty sweet. The compact size is really nice. If nothing else, I hope this device spurs the makers of Labradar to make some improvements to the usability of their product.

Why bother? This is superior in every way, right?

Oh, in terms of form factor and usability - it definitely looks like Garmin has something that will significantly disrupt the current market. Garmin just put the heat on both of those products - so lets see if the other manufacturers step up their game. Competition in the marketplace is good.

If I was buying new right now, Garmin is definitely what I'd be dropping cash on. I'd be willing to bet that Garmin will out innovate both Labradar and Magnetospeed. However, Labradar (and Magnetospeed) still do the job and I need a new barrel right now more than I need another doppler radar chrony. I will just have to live vicarious through the experiences of others and hope that maybe Labradar will at least try to stay relevant.

:)

Hopefully it will force labradar to actually do some updates to compete. Garmin has a much better form factor, and a much better user interface. Still looks like you can’t go back and add shots into an old shot string. But its pretty much going to kill off the others.

Garmin make very good products, and I now know why the sudden flood of Labradar's for sale. I have been using the Garmin Tactix with ballistics for a few years now, and it is the best ballistics calculator I have used in the field so far.

That's awesome. The one thing I dislike the most about my labradar (apart from its size) is the interface. Hopefully this little gadget lives up to the hype.

I'm going to pick one up because it's substantially smaller (and my garmin watch is top notch). Maybe then I'll actually pack it to the range with me.

Man, i love the size of them! I'd upgrade in a heartbeat. The only aspect that makes me uncomfortable is Garmin's information collection practices. Their apps, in my opinion, lack privacy-friendliness and tend to transmit a substantial amount of data back to the company.

And their OS that runs the app doesn't have that same problem, and worse by a order of magnitude? We've already sold our soul to run these smartphones. The apps on them can't be any worse.

It was just a matter of time til one of the big players stepped up with a product, Garmin understands the market, they are already in it with the watch, so, it seems to be the next logical step, perhaps Lowrance or Humminbird or someone else in the marine radar circle will step in with something yet. Could be other models with better capabilities in the works yet too, wouldn't surprise me to see maybe 3 different models at price points, with different features added in, down the road. It's a global size market after all.

I had been mulling a LabRadar purchase for a while now. Pretty glad I never pulled that trigger.

I see the used LabRadar are all listed for $700 - $800. The people looking to dump units rendered nearly obsolete are gonna need to greatly revise their asking price before most of those will sell. Who's gonna buy an obsolete product for more than the newest tech costs?

Not to steer the conversation off-topic, but there are several privacy-focused operating systems beyond Google and Apple. They are easy to install and provide control over the information and applications shared with companies.
