New Garmin xero C1 Pro Game changer

Yup, I could. But I'm not sure I want to strap an $800 piece of electronics onto my boomers. I'm sure it's made to handle the blast and recoil, but I just don't think my comfort level is there to find out haha.

Area 419 worked with Garmin on the mount, so I suspect Garmin supports them being mounted as such. I'm sure it remains to be seen how much recoil they can withstand over a given duration.

I never jumped onto Lab Radar due to cost and still laboured away with my Shooting Chrony. Even indoors with added incandescent lighting to overcome fluorescent lighting.

I'm looking forward to putting that contraption to bed with this Garmin.

Lovin the Xero, it's so easy to use and hasn't dropped a shot for me yet. Velocity numbers basically the same compared to the Labradar, Labradar more likely to drop the shot and give an error

Ok, I’m really interested in the new flavour of the week. But I’ve asked this question on three forums and no one seems to want to answer it (or has tried to answer it). I’ve watched a few videos both from the manufacturer and also a couple of initial reviews. I haven’t seen anyone try what I want an answer to.

I know that the Garmin unit’s transmitter is always on as compared to the LabRadar’s only being tripped on by an acoustic sensor. BUT….what about using the Garmin on a busy firing line? If I had a guy shooting on the bench next to me (less than 5 feet away) with a large magnum rifle (or any rifle, it shouldn’t matter), would the Garmin have trouble? Could a bullet transiting down range come into the Garmin’s radar beam and cause it an issue? I know the LabRadar has this issue, but that’s because of the acoustic trigger “on switch” for the transmitter. Has anyone tried this scenario? How has the Garmin performed?

I kind of want to know before I drop over $800 on a unit that might (and I said might) have the same issues as the LabRadar. So far, it looks like the Garmin is better than gold. But there just might not be enough “in the field use” to uncover this potential problem.

That’s the reason why I am asking. And please don’t turn my query into a sh1t show. Just the facts please.

One guy on Snipers hide had it at a busy range and it did well. It would pick up a shot nearby then discard it.

When the Xero detects a bullet, the screen will change. If the data is outside some parameter, the Xero will ignore the shot and not record it. There’s a video on YouTube that shows this. What the parameters are not explained.

Well, I’ve looked through 15 pages so far. The question was asked three times. I haven’t seen an answer yet. But…the thread has 23 pages. But so far, no joy.

EDIT: First reply on page 18…

Used mine today on a busy 1000 yard line. Between myself and the person on the next relay, we chrono’d 51 shots. It picked up 100% of our shots, and zero from anyone else. There were shooters within 5’ of us, on both sides.

And another on page 20…

I shot at a range for three (3) hours with mine a couple weeks ago. Had a shooter on either side of me. Never missed a shot I took or picked up a shot that wasn't mine.

And finally, on page 22…

I got one a week or so ago. As others have mentioned...It is small. Went to the range and picked a bench between 2 other shooters. I mounted the Xero on Bald Eagle Slingshot rest with a small plate I had worked up. The first thing it did was complete an update. The update was seamless. All I did was watch. Took me a little bit to get it set up as I didn't take the instructions with me! However, all was very easy and I was up and running. I fired 15 shots, different weight bullets out of my 257 WBY. It never missed a shot! And, of importance...It never picked up a single shot fired by the 2 guys next to me. I went home smiling like a Cheshire cat!

That’s encouraging! I’ll keep scouring, but me thinks I’ll be hiding another purchase from the Wifey soon.

sorry should have said near the end of the thread

I have used it on multiple firing lines with up to 30 people shooting at a time. The only time I has an issue was when I was shoulder to shoulder. As soon as there as a couple feet between us it only picked up my shots. From what I could tell it was only picking up the shooter on the same side as the Garmin. It is WAY better than my Lab for only picking up your shots.

So can this be used with a dead internal battery and external battery pack, or is it designed to only charge the internal battery through the USB port?
In other words will the external pack start charging the internal battery and the unit won't work until the internal battery has enough power, or will it effectively run off the external pack?

I have had my Garmin Xero C1 for almost 2 weeks, taken it on several range trips, both bench and field, and there is no comparison, the Garmin has won hands down. Most significant differences...Garmin is approx 1/14 th the size/weight of the LABRADAR, setup is seconds rather than minutes, and was effortless to use, much simpler menu operation. The Garmin picks up 100% of .22LR rounds down range, even sub 800 fps (LABRADAR is finnicky with .22, required RAT, and even then was marginal), Garmin does not pick up other shooters rounds down range at the local Range. When I got my Garmin it looked approx 70% charged so I used it as was and in the several trips out in temps ranging between +5C and -3C it has gone down to approx 50% charge, have yet to charge it. Garmin seems much less sensitive with regards to orientation, approx 40 degrees grace in right left/up down alignment.
In summary...My LABRADAR is as good as it ever has been, however the Garmin Xero C1 is a superior product. I sold my LABRADAR less than 24 hrs ago for $530 shipped. I sincerely hope that LABRADAR as a corporate entity both survives and answers the call to compete, not just with Garmin...

I was humming and hawing on a LabRadar and nearly ready to succumb. Pretty glad I didn't. I'll likely pick up a Garmin in the spring.

I was there. I had actually decided to finally get serious about buying one, sent a couple of people PMs about them on here. Luckily one was sold, and the other didn't get back to me. My Xero was delivered today :D
