I want to build the one rifle to rule them all... One rifle to find them, One rifle to bring them all and in the darkness bind them. To carry in the land of Alberta where the shadows lie.

Ok ok, enough fun. I have been grappling with this for months. I will lay out some "ground rules" and will also list some rifles I have considered.
Lets see if it is out there or if I will have to go custom/semi custom.

"Rules"
Around or Under 8lbs.
308 Win - I want to be able to shoot any animal and find ammo anywhere.
20" or shorter barrel - Looking for it to be a handy rifle.
Accurate - I dont hand load, I wont be starting anytime soon either. I dont want an ammo picky rifle, I like when a brand has a guarantee.
Price - I would like to stay under 3000 ideally.
Modern Egro's - I have a high cheek spot on my face. I always require an aftermarket piece or adjustable stock.

Rifles I have looked at and the I have issues with them.
Daniel Defense Delta 5 Pro Precision Rifle, 16.0" - This rifle seemed litterally perfect until I noticed its weight. Product Weight 11.4 lbs
Sig Cross 308 - Again a seems liek this is a no brainer BUT, the reports of it being very picky with ammo has made me EXTREAMLY weary... I dont like $2500 gambles.
Rem SPS tac AAC 16" barrel - budget friendly, will need to buy some parts. Chassis and trigger group.
Remington 700 Police LTR, 20.00" Fluted - again, will have to get a cheek piece or chassis.
Tikka T3X Compact - Not threaded, need cheek piece or chassis.
Tikka T3X Roughtech - barrel is "too" long. Would need cheek piece or chassis
Bergara SP 18" 308 rifle - Would need cheek piece or chassis.

The no brainer seems like the Cross but its such an accuracy gamble from reviews.
The throw money at it rifle but I wont have to do anything is the Delta 5 pro, but its heavy AF (would suck to carry BUT I mean... I could...
The budget friendly, semi custom build over time seems to be the T3X Compact, good length, weight, price, action, aftermarket support ect.

Help me out, am I missing a rifle? Should I do a custom ? Semi custom (t3X?) Should I just suck it up and eat my Wheaties on hunt days throw money at the DD?

Springfield waypoint 2020 with carbon wrapped barrel? Howa ultralite?

Oh, the springfield! Thats a good one! The regular stainless steel and ceracoated barrel one is 2800 and the proper weight... This might be a winner!
Howa has never impressed me. Everytime ive picked up their rifles, loose rattles or cheap feeling.

I have a cross in 6.5 Creedmoor. No issues aside from the chassis being cold when out hunting. The rear bolt pathway might have issues with snow and debris (I've had none(.

its the only company I cant find an accuracy guarantee though. I doubt that snow or debris would ever be an issue.

If you don't handload, those rifles are a waste. The SPS or a Savage Axis will be perfect for you.

eh, a different take for sure. Just because I dont hand load to chase groups from .6 to .8 down to .3 or .5. I wouldnt call it a waste, I still appreciate quality machining, smooth bolts, crisp triggers and rifles that will outlast myself.

Get yourself a Thompson single shot action order a custom barrel in .308 if you have problems with rear stock order a pistol grip conversion from sharps bros in the states allowed the us of m4 carbin stock and changes the way the encore feels I have a set up like this with a few different barrels 15 inch 45/70 and .223 barrels as well as smoothbore 12 Guage barrel and .50 cal black powder supper light and handy still need a barrel in .308 and 7.62x39

A Ruger Scout with a few add ons might fit your needs

Think im going to settle on a bergara b14 wilderness ridge special purpose in 308 with 18" barrel... Might go with the carbon barrel also. Maybe...
