What where they recovered from? Looks like good performance.

These were 150 ttsx fired from a 308 into a bull elk. One at 250 yards one at point blank. About 2400fps and 2950fps.

Guessing that came out of dirt or newsprint, MiG? Cool to see anyway! How far out does 2500 fps correspond to for that cartridge/rifle?

Savagelh, cool! Bet the elk didn't like it...no one needs help guessin which was which lol

Barnes says the 168 is even softer.

Those come out of an Elk (right under the far side hide), maybe 100 yards, I'm not getting anywhere near the claimed velocities in the "book" from CFE223. They're very accurate though, quite a bit better than the 200gr NP and cheaper to boot. I am curious about the ECX and Naturalis in the 8mm.

They do work, multiple Elk and Mule Deer, although always left wondering if even hit them, zero blood trails, always finding them 50 or so yards away. I'd never consider them for Bear Defence though.

No bloodshot meat which is a plus.

Oh! Didn't figure they came from an animal.

They just don't have the ability to muscle through elk size game and leave a good blood trail? Is that much different from any other bullet that doesn't make it through them?

200 grain Partition would be a good one for bear, I bet

Never seen much for blood trails with Elk, they're heavy enough to typically leave good tracks running, and from what I've seen, when the Bull goes down there'll be a Cow standing there telling him to get up. Just wait and you'll hear it.

Deer though don't always leave good tracks and never seen a Doe staying with the downed Buck. These days, if I can't find them quickly I'll go home and get the Dogs, they'll find downed Game more or less immediately and they're not even Hunting Dogs.

IME the typical cup and core bullet will put Deer on the ground faster than the 200 Partition or 160 TTSX.

If I wanted to be Loaded for Bear these days, I'd try the 180 BT pushed as fast as I could get it going. The 200 NP obviously works but they're getting harder to find and expensive, and I'd like to try something that might work a little quicker and the BT has a nice heavy jacket in the rear portion.

Aye, that 180gr BT has a jacket making up 2/3 the weight of the projectile just about lol.

Used to like them and H4895 in my 98k. No barn burner of a load but never needed to be.

I worked up a load for my .280 Rem 120 TTSX with Superformance powder 3163 FPS, pulled this bullet from a moose shot at 120 yards, almost like Oswald's magic bullet it hit in the chest went up through the spine lodging under the offside scapula, the moose dropped in his tracks I was more than impressed the spent bullet weighs 116 gns.

Just some recovered TSX/TTSX for the fun of it. Of all the game I've shot with them I've recovered just 5 bullets. Always excellent blood trails, wound channels and outstanding penetration. Never had anything run off an excessive distance. I'm always surprised when I don't see an exit wound, it doesn't happen often for me.

Here's a recovered bullet from last year out of the 8x57. 180gr tsx 2780fps. Shot distance 180 yards.

100 percent weight retention.

I plan on loading the TTSX 160gr in a SS tikka. Should be able to push 2900-3000 fps.

I have never recovered a Barnes TSX or TTSX from any deer I’ve taken with them as well as 2 moose, 3 elk. Elk last year was with my 350 WSM 200 gr TTSX at 415 yards. My brother took that shot. I’m fairness, they’ve all been 35 Whelen and 350WSM haha.

Yea Bud it is ! Hornady cup and core bullets will Kill for sure BUT what a Phucking mess they can make ! RJ

They can, and will, of course.
If a fella is loading up... say... an ELD-X and launching at it Warp 9, just to shoot a deer at 50 yards with it, that's on him, not the bullet.

At least the LRX provides a lot more flexibility even if its BC is limited compared to leaded bullets. Its softer than its comparable TTSX stablemates though.

But I hear the 30 cal 130gr TTSX still opens very well at 400 yards even when not pushed by a magnum.
