Good lord new #1’s are near 3K! What’s a used .303 #1 worth?
yeah interestingly i had reasonable accuracy with "highland 150gr" which is a PPU brand i believe.........
otherwise the longer SPEER hot core 180 an similiar shaped Woodleigh 174s, worked well with the long throat etc!?!
could you try speers hot cor 180gr? about 40gr Varget yeee haaa
I started to like the single shot rifles, and this seems like my new passion. The 303 has always intrigued me, so now I hunt for a single shot 303.
I know they are a needle in a hay stack, but if one rolls around in the hay long enough they eventually find the needle!
I have lucked out in my quest for single shot rifles. A few years ago I was at a local gunshow and for some reason was wanting a Remington Rolling Block.
There was one in 45 Colt, but was a pretty penny in price.
A second or third loop of the show later i chanced upon a little Rolling Block without a caliber tag, or stamping to be found.
I asked the vendor and he said 303 British.
I pawed it over, we settled on a price, and I went home with a 4# rifle.
I don't shoot full power loads in it, and the darned thing has a .321"/8mm bore, so I paperpatch my lead boolits up to size and shoot those.
I Lucked out on a number 1 years ago, and really like it.
Keep looking, they're out there...
Was out shooting the 204 this past weekend just to see the action and how it works. I can now see the need to work on proper scope mounting and extracted cased bouncing off the safety, like is a know issue on the no1's. I'll have the proper bases added with the new barrel and see what I can get done with the safety. I know there is a new safety out there that has been reworked and designed better, but they are not in stainless, so we will see what route I end up taking on that one.
Dont they just cut the top off the original safety off a bit so it doesnt sit proud?
Not rocket science, a few minutes with a file and it's doneDont they just cut the top off the original safety off a bit so it doesnt sit proud?
