I paid about 200 bucks for couple of old colt 1911 a1 1943 manufacture about 15 years ago. My buddy bought one lately for 250. So I guess the fair market value now is somewhere between 200 bucks and 2000.

Ten years ago it was common to buy Colt, Remington-Rand & Ithaca 1911A-1's in correct, matching, very good to exc condition in the $350 area.
But not so anymore.... you will only find a Colt in the $800 plus area unless the seller doesn't know it's current value or it's a real beater.
I recall picking up non-matching, but 'beater' condition [fully functional but requiring refinish & some small part replacement] WWII vintage USGI 1911A-1's from Lever Arms out of Vancouver, B.C. circa 1991 for $99 each. Alan Lever let me & two buddies go thru a crate of them & pick out 12 of them which we purchased for that price. But even a 'beater' is going to set you back $250 + these days.
