Ruger American Rifle Gen II

I always try to mount as low as possible also. Just the shape of my head I guess. Have never found a "stock" rifle that I could position properly behind the sight on. Unless its an adjustable stock.

Even with the lowest rings I can't get my scope low enough most of the time so an optional cheek piece is nice to have for me. Different head shapes and sizes, different ways our face sits on the stock I guess?

Same here. Every stock is at least 1/2" too low for me and the 40mm scope objective can be 1mm above the barrel. It must be high German cheeckbones or people don't really understand what cheek weld is supposed to mean. On a bench, your neck should be carrying NO weight. Entire head rests on the gun.

Funny enough most shotguns fit me perfectly though.

My belief is stock designs are based off iron rifles, and companies haven't adapted for the optic-only models they now sell.

I believe the riser I designed is 3/4" and I sold dozens.

Same for the Ruger Gen 1. I think this was 1/2"

Built a stock for my Scorpio - the cheek rest is at the bore axis.

I think it’s hideous. I like the three position tang safety, but the butt end just looks horrible to me. I also detest magazines that protrude below the stock, and magazine releases that lend themselves to being bumped or snagged. I’ll stick with savage 110’s and X bolts for now.

A bit better with their riser taken off.

There's the compact American model which has better ergos and an 18" barrel.

Are you referring to the gen1 ruger American? I have a gen1 ranch model in 308 that I love. But I’m tired of the bolt handle catching branches loosing a round of ammo every time I pass through some thick bush or brush. Won’t have this issue with the gen2. I’d be happy with an gen2 18” 308 model. I agree the stock is fugly like others have said. Looks a bit better without the cheek riser. But as long as the ergos are ok I’ll rock one.
