Yes they shoot very well, I have a Ruger Ranch rifle, however I just prefer the original!

I often carry my rifle one handed, and at least on the two rifles I've used most for hunting that balance point is right at the magazine. So for that reason I prefer something that doesn't stick out from the stock.
well played ruger, good platform to invest in and update, it should take a run at tikka now, sure hope I can get that 3 position on my gen1 with the gen1.5 stock, as that's all I'd wish for it
Too bad they don’t drop the RAR into a wood stock.

Boyds has wood stocks for Ruger Americans and Ranches

they come with magazine wells /trigger guards. Read the bottom section.
At that point you could afford a gun that came with these things to begin with though.

Looks like the Pontiac ##### of rifles.

A Z T E C ARMOURY is verboten on CGN.
Unlike the Pontiac of which you speak that quickly faded into obscurity these Gen II’s are going to be a smashing success and will be here to stay.
Ruger has knocked it out of the park with these and I predict that the Ranch models in particular will be the most popular bolt action in Canada in short order.
The aftermarket will be receptive and then robust as well.
Feel free to bump this thread and ridicule me if the Gen II’s fall flat on their face but I’m feelin like Nostradamus on this one!![]()
Canadian price depending, it may sell well.
I won't bite on any of the current gens above $600 to my door lol.
Very cheaply made piece of rifle all around. They can throw it in camo stocks and ceracote the #### out of them I ain't paying near $1000 for one.
Made in the age of disposable rifles, not the kind of thing you pass down to your grandkids, I wouldn't even trust one of these to a grandkid.
The shoot great sillyness is not some new found manufacturing process, I have guns 120 years old that shoot great, and they will continue to do that for god knows how long, and they retail for half the price or less then new Ruger Americans.
I always found it kind of odd, that the Americans had this reputation for accuracy since introduction, yet the very overpriced Hawkeye or whatever they call their flagship Mauserish model these days has a reputation for being very sloppy on targets.
Who is comparing these to 120 year old heirloom quality rifles?
Is it unacceptable to have 800$ dollar rifles share the same safe as my 4000$ ones?
Is it acceptable to take a budget rifle to the range on the same day as a premium priced one?
Friends don’t let friends drive FordChevyDodges.
Who in their right mind is comparing these to 120 year old heirloom quality rifles?

I am quite enjoying the “age of disposable rifles” as you put it… you know, the same age as laser rangefinders, heavyweight high bc bullets with stunning uniformity and proper factory barrel twists to accompany them,Doppler radar chronographs, precision ballistic calculators on my disposable handheld phone, ultralight composite gunstocks and all that horrible stuff.
Seems to be the only positive consistent comments about them...they shoot good.
So you just have to overlook the zipper bolts, MIM quality everything else, pile of plastic rifle and yeah, I guess they are the cats ass lol.
120 year old heirloom? I'm talking 1900 Swede Mauser sporters for $300-$400 that shoot as good or better. But yeah, it's 6.5x55 and doesn't say Creedmoor after it, so probably worthless today.
I do like the American compacts, at around $500 they are ok with all the negative low grade manufacturing, with the shorter LOP and 18' barrels, they are the same OAL as my CZ 527 carbines, stocks have been stiffened which is good, the odd bedding situation has been improved as well where the action sits even and the barrel channel doesn't need trimming to free float...but hey that's only on 3 recent examples I've dealt with, a 4th which a buddy bought had a seized ejector out of the box, one of the $900+ tax/shipping GoWild cerracote 6.5CM units...shot 1 round and off to warranty for 6 months to a year.
I have a new found liking for short handy rifles, and these fit the bill if you are into 1 of the 4 chamberings they come in. The newer flush fit mags, non-rotary versions, seem to be pretty good with some minor tweaks. File a bevel on the front feed lip, deburr the mag follower well, tweak the mag spring so there is some actual tension pushing the follower up, and all is good. The flush mag is one of the other pluses for me. The zipper noise takes some work to correct, shouldn't even leave the shop floor like that, but you get what you get at that price point, and everyone seems pretty content with how crappy these are made, don't understand it, but it is want it is.
You talking the mausers chambered in 223, 450BM, 300BLK, 22ARC Etc.??? Or maybe you mean the Swedish mausers that are 6.5 Creedmoor???
Or how about the CZ 527 that uses STANAG mags?
Once again NOBODY but you in this thread is comparing these modern Rugers to any of the classics you are talking about they have a completely different set of features for a completely different market that Tradex Swedes have no place in.
