Ruger American Rifle Gen II

I kind of like what they've done with it. The action sounds much smoother as well. But with the fluted barrel, and muzzle breaks there is added cost I don't really need. The stock also looks to be a big improvement of the previous type, which along with the not so smooth bolt where my biggest complaints about the ruger Americans.

LOP spacers, goes down to 12". That makes the Ranch one hell of a youth gun with the short handy barrel, relatively light weight (assuming they are not much heavier than the gen1 Ranch) and LOP/comb that can be changed over time to maintain fit on a growing kid.

Really not loving that magazine though...

Do the magazines not function properly? I've never used one.

I often carry my rifle one handed, and at least on the two rifles I've used most for hunting that balance point is right at the magazine. So for that reason I prefer something that doesn't stick out from the stock.

That and on the AI mag models, the action screw is under the mag catch area of the stock. So that needs to be disassembled before the action can be removed from the stock.

Not that it needs doing much but its a pain in the ass.

well played ruger, good platform to invest in and update, it should take a run at tikka now, sure hope I can get that 3 position on my gen1 with the gen1.5 stock, as that's all I'd wish for it
