Smallest light weight NR .22lr for a pack rifle?

What rifles are available in Canada that are none-restricted in .22lr that a guy can keep in his pack while big game hunting, in case he comes across a couple birds he wants to shoot? I am aware of the Chiappa little badger, the ruger 10/22 take down and the marlin take down that goes into the stock. But are there any others?

Thanks!

Not in production anymore to my knowledge, but the Gevarm E series is a takedown. If you can find one, make sure it has mags, they are spendy to replace.

I think I posted this back a few years ago.

27" long, 1 pound 15oz loaded, holds 7 rounds, and is semi auto.
There is a simple rear sight installed now though.

TDX arrived today, it's noticeably heavier in the hand. Using a cheap luggage scale which is not that accurate it weighs 53.2 ounces and the original with the Daver II minimal grip comes in at 48.3 ounces.

The stock on the TDX is a bit longer and the cheek weld out of the box with the peep sight at the lowest setting is good.

I removed the one allen bolt that holds the stock in place and it slipped right out, and that's when I realized that it's not a tube but is in fact a solid rod of steel!

The stock alone weighs 10.9 ounces. It looks like it would not be that difficult to find a suitable tube to replace the solid steel rod with and put a stopper on the end that would serve as a minimalist butt pad and also allow rounds to be stored in the tube.

I will have to look around through my random material stash and see if I can find a suitable tube.... with a bit of a bend down it could be made to fold smaller similar to Barrett's setup.

A carbon fiber tube would be slick, or perhaps a polycarbonate rod or tube heat molded to be more compact.

*lawence - the Guns Magazine article I found Does say 2 1/2 lbs. They mention a 'shotgun' version, maybe that's the 4-1/2 # one ?

Put this little guy together recently. It's a standard 10/22 fitted with a 12" whistle pig aluminum sleeved barrel. Stock is a magpul takedown stock that I modded for a non takedown rifle. So far it seems like it will work great for my needs. Is compact and lightweight. Comes in under 4lbs with scope and I'd like to figure out a different optic for it that's lighter but also accurate. Would like a rds with a 1moa dot. Use will mostly be for headshots on grouse so accuracy is paramount.

Looks awesome. Was it hard to modify the stock for a non takedown 10/22?

I always liked the takedown magpul stocks

No it was easy. I notched out the forestock so the vblock would fit, then drilled and tapped where the 2 meet for 2 6/32 machine screws to hold the 2 pieces together. I may end up epoxying it as well but it seems to be a solid joint the way it is. I ditched the forestock insert that came with the stock as it serves no purpose for me.
