Swiss Arms-Owners speak up about what you dislike

CQB probs for me is when you break it down and forget to hold the return spring/rod comes flying out dohhhhhhhhhhhh... wish it had some kind of catch.
Never really liked the mag release and it sucks to see the guys that really use these hard are breaking them.

i thought that was the sig552 that was breaking down.
 
The biggest problem with the sig rifles is-----The Colors!!!!!!!! Why don't we go back to the normal color of the 550 series. The gun is accept as non-restricted----we don't have to be blue, green, red or black. I have the blue one with the scope rail and i have two 542's in 308---a much better cal. the fit between upper and lower receivers is better on the 542's. Since the "blue rifle" is a "clone" between the 550 and the 542, the fit should have been tight.Even thought the mags are not cheap---they are still better than the ar15 series. using the rail mount you can use a lot of the ar15 "accessories' and they work. I use the bauer rings for the ar15 rifle and they are great---but expensive.

I'm curious, what makes it a POS?

-lack of refined fit on the assembled parts
-Poor quality of finish
-Craptastic trigger
-Accuracy was average
-Overall reputation of the manufacturer and their products (ie. Beta testing)
-Total cost for the rifle weighed against the above

All subjective of course. I don't think this rifle has much going for it aside from being non-restricted. That's a pretty big ask of $2300

I agree 100% with your views on the XCR. You'd be extremely upset if you handled the folding mechanism they have for the US ones. It's pitiful.

The rifle does have more going for it than being non-restricted, already having a rail system is one. However, none of these other features really make it worth what they want for it.

I thought the "Classic Green" color is the default(therefore normal) color for the Swiss Arms rifles.......
 
It's too bad that they ship the classic green with black furniture. Not sure why green furniture is not an option??? My other beef with Sig is not manufacturing one chambered for .308. A .308 classic green would be the cats ass IMHO (H=humble)
 
Cons;
-limited aftermarket accessories with premium pricing.
-Weight..CQB model in this case - it 'seems' to weigh the same, if not more than an AR with all the rails occupied with all the junks. it just may be weight distribution.
-Like Ozz's close encounter, the guide rod almost took my eye out when taking it apart to clean once, and i was extremely careful! a holding mechanism would be great.

It is an after market option. And as I keep pointing out, in the US the Black furniture is worth a premium as it is very rare. Trades are pretty easy.

I dunno, I don't really agree with any of that (especially the price, which is actually $1995CDN); I guess I could give you the trigger, which seems to run the gambit between decent and horrible! But fit and finish is fantastic IMO. Anyways, this thread is supposed to be about Swiss Arms... :p
 
My friend had a pe90. jammed more than my ar. it weighed a ton. He had to fork out alot of dough just to get a tiny little top rail so he could scope it. He had to put some velcro on it so the brass wouldn't ding it up. One of the fold out bipod legs was loose, and still weighed a ton, even though it wasn't an Hbar.

My xcr trigger sucks, but is getting better.

As much as you think the xcr sucks, I find the pe90 to be overrated. It is a great rifle, but isn't the holy grail of .223 rifles. I got 3 grand sitting here, but it's going on a tavor. I would never buy a pe90. The cqb on the other hand giver me a boner, as well as an XCR in this config.

SIG/Swiss Arms has actually gotten as far at the prototype stage for a new .308. Unfotunately, as I understand it, Swiss Arms is pretty much at max capacity right now filling orders for their 55X series of rifles, along with our Canadian 54X/55X hybrids. That's a big reason why we have to wait so long between shipments of those Classic Greens, Black Specials and Blue Stars we all love so much. Below is a pic that has been posted before of the prototype. I'm with HeadDamage on this one. Sight unseen, I'd lay the plastic down for one of these bad boys today!:)

I am not sure about this? I offered to trade black for green on the US based SIG forum and sniper country with no takers. If trades are pretty easy would you be willing to facilitate a black for green trade? I would be willing to trade my black set for a green stock set you sell, and let you keep the profit for a sale to the apparant high demand in the US of my black stock set. Please PM me if you are willing to help.

lol, yeah I make everything up as I go. His PE90 would often ftf the last round in the plastic mag. probably a mag problem. it still did it though, where my AR wasn't doing it.

Xman- is that a .308 in that pic with a quad rail? I would definitely fork over some $$ for one of those, we need more choices in 7.62 black rifles.
 
Its the selector switch that I don't understand. The swiss must have big dicks errr... thumbs to need it so far forward. I can live with everything else.

I guess it also sucks that they're not free.
