Official CanadianGunnutz 20th Anniversary

I remember before the crash, and then everyone scrambling to recreate their accounts with the same username before someone else snapped it up.

Lots of characters have come and gone in the last 20+ years. Good times.

I want to say thank you and express appreciation to everyone here, also on behalf of all moderators. You guys and also many independent businesses are the real reasons we keep the site going. The business case for us here is more about maintaining a space outside the reach of big california social media companies.

The same reason everyone should also support other small independent Canadian media and website, like calibre magazine, gun post....everyone.

None of us can never evercompete against IG Tiktok Reddit in the their social reach and manpower in developemtn - Meta revenue in a minute, maybe in 15 seconds, out power 99% of the revenue of most small businesses generated in a year.

There were multiple crashes and even a passing of the hat for donations to get a more stable server. I find the olden days depressing, seeing how many folks were banned, or died.

I think I found a picture of you at the 2005 CGN shoot out in Amherst.

Yeah I miss talking to Pete ( Nightmare ) Pops still has your poodle mug.

Congrats to Greentips and the CGN Mods on 20 highly successful years. I have been around since before CGN existed as an independent forum, back when we were a foreign sub-forum on the US Assault.web site. Once we all voted with our feet and left Assault.web because they banned one of our group, we formed our own community with a text-only site that quickly grew and expanded into what we have today. Time flies. It has been both a pleasure and an honour to share in the vast knowledge base that is CGN. I have learned far more than I have been able to contribute, but I find that assisting others is the most rewarding aspect of my time on the site.

It is +4C today in Edmonton and will be +7C on Friday when I hit the outdoor range. I'm certainly not complaining in the middle of February in Northern Alberta! Life is good, despite the Turd's negative influence on all of our lives....

The official and verifiable 20th anniversary is coming up this March of the year. Unofficially the somewhat murky 20th anniversary is somewhere last year or even the year before.

Interesting fact - of the 8000 people who joined in the first year, 20% of them are still active today. This is remarkable for a span of 20 years! Thank you to all members, businesses and moderators who make this happen!

With the fantastic support of businesses, members ( especially team members!) and the obviously inevitable fall of Liberals in 2025, it is decided that we will invest on overhauling the entire CGN website and the underlying forum application. We are hoping to see this in 2H 2024 - but like anything in the firearms industry and software development it is always delayed for 2 more weeks perpetually so please do not hold your breath while getting excited.

This is great news! I myself have been a member quite a while. Just a word of caution on the overhaul, years ago on dial-up internet I frequented so many forums like this one - many of them have gone to newer systems and destroyed themselves. I love that CGN still runs like a classic forum. Please don't ruin yourselves!

I like the site how it is and can't see how it can be improved in any major way. Harder to upload photos with no membership but that also means it doesn't turn into non stop memes like on facebook.
I like the color scheme/layout ect. I know it's just my opinion but I feel if it changes, it won't be for the better - just my opinion.
