My latest addition

What's wrong with the trigger guard? What does 2" of barrel weigh?

I prefer 22" tubes on my mountain/backpacking guns, not really about weight. I need to finish up with load development before I do anything to it though...

The trigger guard is pot metal, painted junk IMO. Williams makes a stainless replacement and when I am done it will look like this:

Why you ask, because I can :D

It would appear you are ready for sheep season...yet again!
That gun does look familiar somehow..........nah , it can't be the one I'm thinking of, surely someone's name would have been mentioned if it was.

Ya, not the same one you are thinking of, must be mistaken :p :D

Nice guard, it'll fit right in. I'm not a fan of long barrels either.

It would look good in my safe instead of your gun room. Let me know when I can pick it up. How was the road out to the range?

OK, I will let you know :D

Last weekend we were not at Rosebud, we have a portable bench that we take out to the forestry once and a while. I think my neighbor is heading out there Friday morning, I will let you know what it is like.

It was fine today.

I had a similar set-up in mind for the 257 roy but after junior got through shooting it today, it looks like it will stay in it's current config.

Nice Stick. Have you got a final weight, or did I miss that?

Be sure to keep us posted on load development. I'm just starting to work w/ a M7 .300 SAUM. I'd really like to get my hands on some of the new RL 17...

No weight yet, my scale does not go high enough. Right now I am just guessing. I will try and take the scale home from work today if I can.

Okay...I had to get a guard like that too! Ordered it today. I'll have it reduced aswell and bead blasted ....looks sharp!

Right on! Ya the last one I did took me quite some time to do it right and I don't think you would like to here what I charge  :D

I had to pop on this thread to see what it was I hat to make. :) I'll wait to see the triggerguard to see how thick of material I have to work with, but I'll keep you posted. I promise not to copy your design :):):) I have a few different ideas. Just waiting for the electrician to wire the mill @ the shop.

Davey is that SS triggerguard the same thickness as the factory unit?

I had the same problem, and I took em apart. Barreled action, rings and scope, and stock all separate, and add em up. with a scale that only went up to 5 lbs, it worked great.

If you look closely the trigger guard in the picture I posted it is not a 700 guard. I am still waiting for the SS 700 guard, so I don't know the thickness yet.

My scale goes nowhere near five pounds and I forgot to get the one from work and there was no way I was going back. Next week I guess...

I guess my knowledge of aftermarket triggerguards aint what it used to be :slap::D I guess its a race to see who gets one first:D:D Im likely 3 weeks from having the mill setup anyway, so its Imagination time.
I have 30 inches of travel on the bed, so I want to try fluting a few rods with it to see if I can get a good pattern and do a few of my barrels. I think nice shallow fluting on my ML would look cool.

Davey, I picked you for a fisherman. Everyone should have atleast one fish scale in their battery:D Go to crappy tire and buy a bogagrip, or a normark digital scale:D
I swear you'll use it more than you realize. Its under 30.00 well spent.
