No, but if it was any lighter, it might kick you out of the treestand, or even better, Davey.![]()
What's wrong with the trigger guard? What does 2" of barrel weigh?
It would appear you are ready for sheep season...yet again!
That gun does look familiar somehow..........nah , it can't be the one I'm thinking of, surely someone's name would have been mentioned if it was.

.

I prefer 22" tubes on my mountain/backpacking guns, not really about weight. I need to finish up with load development before I do anything to it though...
The trigger guard is pot metal, painted junk IMO. Williams makes a stainless replacement and when I am done it will look like this:
Why you ask, because I can![]()
I like it, but you should put a Bushnell on it instead of that crapola Leupold.

Okay...I had to get a guard like that too! Ordered it today. I'll have it reduced aswell and bead blasted ....looks sharp!
It would look good in my safe instead of your gun room. Let me know when I can pick it up. How was the road out to the range?
Steve
OK, I will let you know
Last weekend we were not at Rosebud, we have a portable bench that we take out to the forestry once and a while. I think my neighbor is heading out there Friday morning, I will let you know what it is like.
Nice Stick. Have you got a final weight, or did I miss that?
Be sure to keep us posted on load development. I'm just starting to work w/ a M7 .300 SAUM. I'd really like to get my hands on some of the new RL 17...

Right on! Ya the last one I did took me quite some time to do it right and I don't think you would like to here what I charge![]()

I had the same problem, and I took em apart. Barreled action, rings and scope, and stock all separate, and add em up. with a scale that only went up to 5 lbs, it worked great. No weight yet, my scale does not go high enough. Right now I am just guessing. I will try and take the scale home from work today if I can.
I had to pop on this thread to see what it was I hat to make.I'll wait to see the triggerguard to see how thick of material I have to work with, but I'll keep you posted. I promise not to copy your design
I have a few different ideas. Just waiting for the electrician to wire the mill @ the shop.
Davey is that SS triggerguard the same thickness as the factory unit?

If you look closely the trigger guard in the picture I posted it is not a 700 guard. I am still waiting for the SS 700 guard, so I don't know the thickness yet.
My scale goes nowhere near five pounds and I forgot to get the one from work and there was no way I was going back. Next week I guess...
