Hello All,

I'm in the market for a Mid range Scope. I have my mind set on a Nightforce NX8. I now have access to a Riton X7 for almost half the price.....is it worth it?

Should I bite the bullet and go for a Nightforce or is Riton worth it?

Nightforce are a known and proven product, with seemingly only rare issues. the X7 had lots of issues in the past (not holding zero, parallax failures). plenty of negative X7 threads to read on the 'hide.

I'd be looking at an Athlon Cronus or Delta Stryker instead in that price range. or getting the Apex Rival (X7 twin) and dealing with a Canadian company.

The NF will be more $$ up front but we’ll worth it.
Personally I have no experience with Riton except for a friends red dot.

Without a doubt , the NightForce is a far better scope ; but like everything , is it worth the extra money . It really comes down to use , and do you really need a higher end scope for what you are going to be using your rifle for . Will the scope be on a rifle that will get weekly use , or on a rifle that gets used occasionally ?There are lots of scopes out there that are far cheaper that will do everything that a NightForce will do , but if you have the extra cash sitting around , NightForce is a great option .

I think the only single complaint regarding NF scopes I can think of: the compact series, ensure you get hands on with one example to evaluate the eyebox. Which is kind of more important with a heavily recoiling cartridge or strange shooting positions from "barricade" & such like.
Otherwise, you should be golden.

I'm a Riton fan, but Nightforce have a great reputation. If you can, check out both, then decide what is best for you.

I had bought a riton conquer 6x24x50 I wanted to like it to support a veteran owned business but the image quality was terrible so I returned it. I have a nightforce benchrest and a nightforce shv both are excellent.

Alex from Epik arms here: the Riton will do 97% of the Nighforce will do. it comes down to is that 3% going to make a difference?
probably not. also having owned both. both are made in Japan at different factories. light optics works and Japan optics. the fit and finis ont he nightforce (light optics works) is better than Riton (Japan optics)
