Anyone shooting a Weatherby 307 yet?

Kinda, I see it as spending money for something thats there for looks (which is great if someone likes that look, good for them)...unless every ounce matters and you really want a light rifle.

Otherwise don't see that it serves a purpose.

It's for LOOKs for Sure ! - I like it and fluted barrel's too ! Each to there OWN EH :d RJ

Theres this THING called the INTERNET - I'm NOT your living GOOGLE

Dunno how you can type like that

In other words: I dont' have a source and can't back up my claims, but TRUST ME. dO YoUr oWn ReSeArCh!

Aren't 700 cloness with an M16 extractor pretty much a higher dollar custom feature, not the bottom?

I dunno about you, but when I think "Race to the bottom" I definitely think a gun that is 1) more expensive than the Vanguard, and 2) could fund the purchase of 3 Axis.

Hopefully they bring out a lefty in the 307. Weatherby used to be pretty good for lefties from what I can see on the used market, but not so much these days... I'd love a 338 RPM!

Right lol. All steel rifle, with common custom improvements to a well made action, coming with a custom TriggerTech Trigger. $1600. Real bottom drawer stuff there.

Love em too but wish they had a bit heavier barrel contour to hold just a lil steadier.

My favorite Tikka is my 7-08 I cut the barrel to 20" and mounted a light 1-4x Redfield five star, with tally's it weighs just under 7lbs with a loaded mag. and shoots very small groups to the limit of what I can do with the 4x scope, MOA at 300 is good enough for me.

That sounds like an awesome rig. Had one of their compacts with the 20" barrel in 308.

They're sweet and great shooting off the bench but i dislike shooting them offhand or from an unsupported position. Think the 22" 308 is about 6 lbs even, just about. Just a bit too light to be as steady as i know I should. Sure carry and point nice though

Oh right the Vanguard.

So with the 307 it’s their second attempt at a certain market.

If the Vanguard took Remington 700 triggers, stocks, bottom metal, etc....sure. It would be right there with race to the bottom rifles like the 307, Christensen Arms, etc.

As it is, its "only" a very nicely made, all steel rifle for less than $900 with bolt/receiver geometry that doesnt really need any truing up as it comes.

How do we know that anything besides the barrel isn't foreign? The only part they state is US made is the barrel.

Not that it really bothers me.
