All-New: Type 81M

This thread is like an aging farm dog. Time to take it behind the barn and put it out of its misery. Or like Justin Trudeau and has become a rambling mess and should be locked up.

I am not accountable to you but will gladly publicly say: I support the (popular) argument that TI’s service is generally poor compared to other firearm vendors, based on personal experience, experience of others I know, and experience of others on the forum.

You couldn't be more wrong, TI has some of the best customer support in the business, and they will do everything they can to make the customer happy.

Here is my re-finished T81. I still need to put a final coat of Stock Wax on the wood, but I think it looks and feels Great.
- I Stripped all the original wood finish off with Circa 1850 Gel Stripper, 3-4 treatments and water washes.
- Changed profile of butt stock to allow proper cheek weld. Also reshaped the lower handguard a bit to make it feel less like a 2 x 4. Feels Awesome now.
- Light sanding for all pieces with 220, then 400 grit.
- Careful Burning with the Tiger Torch to achieve a very dark look and bring out the grain.
- Very light sand with 600 grit.
- 2 coats of MinWax 'Dark Walnut' Stain.
- 7 coats of Boiled Linseed Oil. Waiting 1 day between each.

Such a fun Rifle, Thanks TI !!!

Looks good man!!!

Just speaking from outside observation here, but do you have an order yourself? Because when you say “people are upset” I see your thoughts raised on just about every matter here, but I haven’t seen you post any order info or reviews on an order received? I’ve seen your twice failed thread attempting to catalog some mythological mass casualty event about “bent rifles” but I haven’t seen any evidence to suggest you have first hand experience in the case? Or that there’s this mass group of revolting buyers facing oppression?

To your point, people have a right to their own expectations, but in that they are expecting something, what is it you are expecting? Other than to stir the pot?

It’s a forum, people discuss and voice opinions, that’s a huge part of what CGN is and that is what I expect.

I am not accountable to you but will gladly publicly say: I support the (popular) argument that TI’s service is generally poor compared to other firearm vendors, based on personal experience, experience of others I know, and experience of others on the forum.

If you have further personal questions or if there is any beef go ahead and PM me and we’ll get it all squared away. If you care enough to call me out here you may as well, right? Otherwise we may as well continue the discussion

So the answer to the question is you don't own a T81 from this batch and you don't have one on order? Lol priceless, your previous handle wasn't Gun Kid was it :)

Context matters

This is one thing i ve noticed about the firearms industry in Canada. Lots of headaches and Im not looking forward to another one.
I really want to add this rifle to my collection, yet the posts I'm reading hear are really making me hesitate. Im not a big fan of not being able
to handle the rifle before I purchase. Especially this one, after hearing so much about the barrels being seated not straight or bent. that's insane.
The distributor should ensure these rifles are 100% satisfactory. I just bought a Mossberg 590 that's definitely not acceptable for a brand new Shotgun.
But, its the firearms industry and one thing I ve noticed, they rarely apologise for their errors. Some distributors anyway..... what to do, what to do

I hear you responded to me saying that a barrel deviated beyond 4mm(which is out of spec and is eligible for a replacement according to YOU) isn't a problem.
What happened to that response?
Your company has openly admitted multiple times that bends beyond 4mm are a problem and have offered replacements in the past. Now you suddenly claim its not an issue? You knew this sort of thing was a possibility and you chose not to keep anything back for warranty/replacement issues and instead of admitting the company made a mistake you're attempting to shift blame and change claims.

They must have kept a few back, they sent me a new fixed stock unit, which i thought had a front sight off to the side, turns out it was a simple adjustment

Just buy it, don't let random people on the internet sway your mind. The ones making the biggest deals about the barrel misalignment are the ones who didn't buy one.

Nice work man, i see you completely removed the side swels on the handguard. I thought i would do that, but then it grew on me as i refinished it and smoothed out all the edges.. i dont regret leaving them.. to be honest its that recessed area that i have beef with, but i will learn to accept it :) i love this rifle..

You will likely regret not picking one up, I remember when we used to get M305s, a lot of them came with barrels improperly indexed and a few other quirks. It was just like this endless pages of a few people complaining and dumping on people who were happy with their rifles. In the end the M305 was a great platform and a lot of fun to shoot and to build up.
Alas they are not available anymore and a lot of people likely wish that had picked one up when they were cheap and plentiful, I think they were $499 when they were first offered if I am not mistaken?

or there was the VZ 858 and the infamous gremlin, another great platform.
