Spomer has shoemaker on his latest podcast. Handguns on bears is discussed
Hmmmm, false idols, no thank-you, Chuck.
This is the internet, experience is to be discounted and ridiculed lest it threaten one’s beliefs.
I discussed rifles with Shoemaker and he’s a big fan of a few simple things, high among them .30-06s and above all shot placement.
Really? Shoemaker?
Hmmmm, false idols, no thank-you, Chuck.
I don't know a thing about Shoemaker, I only viewed a photograph and single shot rifle of him, never even made a query. Big story, I'm not interested in gunwriters, hunting adventure stories, hunting shows, etc. I only enjoy my own experiences in the hunting and gun world. Authors as: Shelbly Foote, Michael Sharra, etc interest me.
Fair play, everyone is entitled to their onion, for what that's worth. He's not a gun writer though , he's guided bears for 4 decades and had to shot a few in self defense.
Respecting a man's experience is worshipping an idol?
Anyone with four decades plus of doing one thing, and doing it well, will have plenty of good information to share and is certainly worth hearing out... particularly compared to internet warriors.

Precisely, I bumped into grizzlies 6 times while hunting in the Rocky Mountains without incident; I believe that they were a little gun-shy.Many false idols in the world and I don't need any of them. Many quote gun writers or hunters from their books and I could not be bothered reading them.
A little contradictory there... but reading between the lines, your point is apparent.
