Who makes the best Alaskan rifle today?

Ok so I gotta play along with this a bit.

Michaerl Sharra, born 1916 (death irrelevant). His claim to fame was writing about the American Civil War.

But clearly he wasn't even alive during that conflict, so how do we know his writings are accurate? He's only re-writing/interpreting previous reports on any of the Civil War history. All anecdotal, even if his writings are well done.

Even if he had been alive during the civil war, that still doesn't guarantee accuracy, only his interpretation of what was going on. No one could be everywhere at any given time so they do not know it all personally and must rely on others to fill in the blanks.

Remember, there's 3 sides to every story, and its up to the reader to gather as much information on the subject and then form an educated opinion on it.

But then we take Phil Shoemaker, who without question has been there done that, still doing that, 45+ years.

How can anybody dispute or poo poo that knowledge?

Some of you guys are funny, from time to time. The annals of the American Civil War has been immencely documented, from a private to Lincoln. However, my comment wasen't regarding information, it was directed concerning hero-worshiping (false idols) by corresponding a quote.

No one here is worshipping anything or anyone. But you have accused me of doing it for some reason. Why is that?

Don't take it personally, a multitude have correlated quotes from writers, authors and entertainers, in the disaplines of guns and hunting. I definately don't permit myself to persue this establishment/institution; I'm one individual, within myself and experiences. I'm not dependent on false idols to guide me on their experiences. My signature lines are quotes from myself, which defines me; I don't place anyone on a pedestal, including myself.

So, only your personal experience counts then. Got it. - dan

Here is something for consideration. My neck of the woods this week. Not my photos. A Grizzly is no joke

Make yourself look bigger than a 3/4 ton dodge and you’ll be just fine.

Our neighbour shot one a year ago within striking distance of this photo, exhibiting the exact same behaviour. He was fencing. And luckily packing.

I’ve had two similar encounters in the last five years in this area. Both stopped short and lived. I didn’t tell my wife about one of them for over a year as our youngest son was beside me. I told him not to tell mom and he didn’t.

There’s a handful of us here who remember the grizzlies have the right to be there too. None except perhaps MiG would like to see them eradicated and lost, most of us enjoy the spice even if they don’t want to openly say it. Everyone wants their own grizzly story, it’s why my hunts sold out to people from places the grizzlies were shot out of half a century or more ago.

Well done on the discretion Chuck, if I’d shot every bear who made me uncomfortable or bluffed on the rivers I’d have spent more time in court than hunting and been far poorer for it. If Shoemaker can go 45 years in Alaska, with 35 guiding big bears, and shoot one in defence, we can for the most part too.

This is a wild animal doing wild animal things Joel. Disney will have a different take, but don’t believe them.

I know, thats why I watch the Attenborough shows. Looks like my cat when he gets the zoomies.

Fight or flight response. Guess which one it's doing.

Quite clearly fleeing at best speed, but I wonder from what haha

No one would spend the considerable money on going to hunt them in outfits like yours if they weren't spicy, right? lol Wouldn't be the same if they were docile.
