For the WIN

What Is everyone just running optic wise on their 300 Bee’s just standard 3-9, 3.5-10 range or 4-12/4-16 in whatever flavour of your choice?

As I stated, a 1.5-6 on mine. Works well for the areas and game I use it on. Don't really need more than 6x for larger critters at (for me) reasonable distances. - dan

I've only owned one 30 cal magnum which was a 308 Norma in a Parker Hale 1200 that I used for running deer target fun yrs back. It shot well but was over the top for hunting meat critters in my area. Plenty of giggles on pest critters though using 110 gr hollow points pushed to 3800 fps. El Explodo. ;)

Still have one of those, good cartridge. A more efficient 30 magnum, I think. Also ran a 30-338 for a while, same ballistics. - dan

I know an older gentleman, a life long hunter who was successful enough to be able to do a fair amount of hunting around the world. In the late 60s he bought himself a 300 Weatherby Mk V and stuck with it pretty much for his whole hunting career. As I get older, the more I'm inclined to think he probably had the right idea all along. I know a couple other hunter's that did the same with the Winchester version.

I have hunted a lot of Western North America with the 308 Norma Magnum, and feel much the same about it. Dave.

I like the 300 wind bag. I have a long history with it and have taken alot of game with it. Most species in BC anyway. Sure the wby is faster, but never had the need. Also never had the need for a PRC and heavier bullets. The 180g ttsx from the wind bag seems to flatten them just fine! I do own a 300wby and have been off and on about keeping it or selling it, but I really see no need to keep it! Just my 2cents

Haven’t used a 30 mag for a while. Always used 200 partitions back then. Old guy so no interest in Uber long range shooting. Pretty hard to beat under 500 yards but I bet the bullets would still stick in way past there.

I’ve used both 300WM (Savage 116) and a 300WSM (Tikka T3) in the field yrs ago without issues from either.

When I was looking for a backup rig to my 700 MTN, I knew I wanted something with a bit of extra punch and range, but keep it a budget minded project over all.

Optics, powder, primers and projectiles were all ready in house, all I needed was brass and decide on the platform (Rem, Brwng, WBY etc).

Could I have gone 300 PRC? Sure, but like others have stated it too will wane eventually to some new wizz-bang 30Cal in the future…

So I say, pick your poison 300WM, 300WBY, 300WSM or 300PRC and keep it in the “Dirty Thirties”

.300 Wby ? The .340 Wby has always been a superior cartridge...

More bigger better. I have one in a custom 700, with a RKS gain twist barrel. Pretty lightweight for the cartridge, kicks me more than the 300 does, certainly. Great hunting cartridge, will push 250 gr bullets within 40-50 fps of the Lapua. - dan

For the longer shots, 500 yards, all 30 caliber magnum cartridges will perform admirably. I have two, 300 Wby. and the 300 H&H.

I like the dirty 30's..lol...I switched out from my old doll, the 300 WM to the new and exciting be all to end all 300 WSM back in the days of WSM introduction and haven't looked back. LOL
Moose, deer, bear, Yotes and a rabbit...takes em all with ease...esp the rabbit !! It's all around great game cartridge for everything large we have here in the east coast.
Mind you, it's not a Big Bee like you guys have, but heck...look at the powda I'm saving ..heh heh heh
