All-New: Type 81M

Just put 300 rounds through my underfolder, everything worked great.

The only issue I had is the handguard, the part above the swell where the wood is thin gets very, very hot quickly. But other than that there was no issues

Any tricks to adjust my rear sight to “1”?
It only seems to rotate from 2-5 when I was adjusting it.

You set elevation by looking from behind the gun, not from the top. So if you see number 2 looking from the top, you should see number 1 when aiming. That's the 100m setting.

Just received half of my order, and I am horrified. Not by the firearms but the fact that TI puts my entire PAL/RPAL information on the god damn INVOICE.
I understand you need it on file, but to have it on the printed invoice? Legit every piece of information for someone to order a firearm under my name is on that invoice and the fact that there are 3 copies of the same invoice in the box? Why?
Surely, you have a duty to protect that information.

I have invoices for all firearms, dating back to 2015 with my pal on them. That's been common practice for a long time.

But did you die?

I got to handle a T81M fixed stock version today & I would have to do the same wrt the buttstock...

I could not comfortably use the iron sights without really squishing my cheek/cheek bone into the stock.

Good job by the way!

Here is my re-finished T81. Changed profile of butt stock to allow proper cheek weld.

Such a fun Rifle, Thanks TI !!!

Here is my re-finished T81. I still need to put a final coat of Stock Wax on the wood, but I think it looks and feels Great.
- I Stripped all the original wood finish off with Circa 1850 Gel Stripper, 3-4 treatments and water washes.
- Changed profile of butt stock to allow proper cheek weld. Also reshaped the lower handguard a bit to make it feel less like a 2 x 4. Feels Awesome now.
- Light sanding for all pieces with 220, then 400 grit.
- Careful Burning with the Tiger Torch to achieve a very dark look and bring out the grain.
- Very light sand with 600 grit.
- 2 coats of MinWax 'Dark Walnut' Stain.
- 7 coats of Boiled Linseed Oil. Waiting 1 day between each.

Such a fun Rifle, Thanks TI !!!

Really hoping next batch is brown stained with a unblued bolt.

I HAD to do the Stock trim/mod to be able to actually see the sights properly. It is awesome now.

It's common practice to put JUST the PAL number but all the info for triggering a correct RCMP verification process is there. Including my DOB and City of Birth, as well as the email registered with RCMP.
That is over and above what SHOULD be written on it. I might as put my SIN number on there as well.

I liked the Parkerized/Blued bolt so much that i even Blued the bolts on my other older T81s. More AK'ish I guess :)

It worked on this shipment in contrast to bright orange. The choice to a blued bolt can be done at home as you mentioned. A unfinished bolt has its on appeal against a darker furniture.
You did a good job on the wood. I cant find it inside me to change the color unless I was using spare and could swap back
