Picture of the day

That's either a great big guy or a teensy helmet...

Thompsons aren't that big and when looking at the pic proportionately, the pic has been modified IMHO.

There were a lot of things to be done to a photo back in the day, to make something appear different than it actually was.

For instance, there is no background, so a neutral backdrop/floor etc and the helmet looks to have part of it missing.

What?? Just completed and sent in an application to the VA for compensation for hearing loss. The audio guy says with my hearing it should be a shoe in. When I told the guy at the VA office I was an armourer , he said it was pretty good chance they would accept it. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I wouldn't make that assumption. Victory bond and propaganda posters using artwork/drawings certainly used creative license, less so with photos. First step, is it a real victory bond poster? Is the soldier a real person? The M1928A1 also isn't really small, at 33.5 inches in length.

Tinnitus you say? A herd of deer on a gravel road can sneak up on me and if it wasn’t for my good eyesight, I’d never know they were there, lol. 10 years on Hercs and another 23 years on noisier machines did a number on my hearing. The VA should respond accordingly to hearing tests and if you’re not happy with their assessment, there’s an appeal process that can be initiated. Don’t take no for an answer. I used a guy that travelled to the local Legions to advocate on my behalf and he was totally up to date on VA benefits and their shenanigans.

In my application, I never thought to mention all the other noise. Flying around in Hercs and Buffalos while in the Airborne.
