Thats looking really nice Jay.

Any more pictures ?

A buddy had Gunco shave his fixed stock down… Now you can actually see the irons without smashing your cheek down uncomfortably on the stock! Recommended modification for sure!

didn't go well. you need to put a lot of paint to fill the numbers and then you have to try to wipe the excess off.

I used a Sharpie paint pen and picked up the paint with the tip of a small jewelers screwdriver. Smeared it into the numbers and wiped excess off with a rag after a few seconds. Worked very well for me.

maybe it was the paint pen I used but I couldn't get the excess off cleanly. even with some acetone

Playing with some scrap 3/4" baltic Birch plywood I had laying around, I decided to laminate it and see what I can scrape together.

First up is a pistol grip:

I bought some kind of white waxy paint type pencil (markal b) from Gregg’s... it’s a great mod and it works great!

thedau, maybe try again with either the Markal B pencil that Deathrawt noted in his post, or a plain white crayon like I used...

The mod really does make a big difference in being able to see the markings on the dial!

RPMTool had some stock adapters made. pretty much a sigmaco clone but the quality and finish is much nicer, imo (I own both). Colour matches the receiver much better, no milling lines etc.

very strong, no flex even when I hold the rifle up just by the buttstock

Blocked out the butt stock. Three 3/4" strips of Baltic Birch Plywood.

Added stain to the pistol grip and rubbed in a couple coats of Tung oil, Turpentine and bees wax mixture with some steel wool. Going for a distressed work gun look.

Shaped the butt stock and got it stained and oiled:

Love the colors, looking forward to seeing it on the gun. Shape is a bit unusual, is there a reason for that ?

It looks a little weird in the photo as I'm holding at an angle with the rear of the butt stock further away from the camera.
I wanted to keep the general geometry of the fixed stock including the dished portion of the top, to keep that AK / T81 feel, but less pronounced and have a higher comb so that it works well with a red dot on the rear rail. I can still use the irons, but I need to really get low on the comb.

At the rear of the butt stock the profile matches the butt plate, but angles ever so slightly out and back in again before matching the oem profile at the stock trunion, giving it that valley in the middle.
It started out with me sanded down a significant flaw in the outside board lamination on the top left but continued so that is really just for visual effect (you can see remains of the lamination flaw on the left side in the middle of the 'dish'). The dishing in on the side and top make for a comfortable and easily repeatable cheek weld.
It's longer than the oem stock by about 3/8 - 1/2" as well which is more comfortable.

Once the oil has some time to dry out, I'll be applying a matt polyurethane finish.

Thanks dude.

Delta-dynamics is coming out with some as well but quite frankly trying to catch their pre-order only system has been a pain in the ass.

Ordered one of these today. Weird right? Pay money. Obtain in-stock product.
