Lots to think about.. if I could find a nice walnut stock for the browning it would be a no brainer for me I think. I use a nice custom rem 700 in boring 3006 right now, it wears walnut already, and has killed several moose and countless deer with it. It doesn’t bother me to scratch that one up, but I hate having to clean that blued wooden rifle after hunting in the rain all day, and sometimes all week.
I’d never buy another ruger,, have had a couple and couldnt get them to group to my liking, and sold both of them. Have a model 70 featherweiggt in 270 made in Connecticut,, love that gun, but it’s a deer rifle. If I could find a m70 super grade in 7rm I’d trade both for it pretty quickly I’d guess, another gun I’ve always really liked.
It seems all new guns are more than capable of minute of rib out to ranges I’d shoot. Whatever I keep won’t be handed down 60 years from now,, I’ll already be dust for 30 of those I’m guessing. And the week after I go, someone is going to get a hell of a deal from my wifr on all my hunting things, a boat and ridiculous amounts of fishing equipment for pennys on the dollar
And I still haven’t decided on what glass for this gun thinking Leupold Vx3hd 4-14 would work nice for my aging eyes.. and this type of application.
How come I have a feeling I’ll be using the 06 again this year , with 2 silver guns sitting in the cabinet waiting to be decided upon
