Well after a long stint sans a shottie (my last was a SXS 410 years ago) I decided it was time to jump on the short shottie bandwagon and picked me up a little Wingmaster.
I got the shotgun from Steyrtac, who had it listed in the EE. With a few extra bells and whistles thrown in it was almost as cheap as a Grizzly, but not quite. Admittedly I feel kinda bad for the guys who went the Dlask or Rem factory barrel route, since I know the Dlask 12inch barrel, with taxes etc, is the same price as the entire Grizzly.
That said the old Wingmaster just spoke to me, with the wood, the front blade, and a few gizmos.
When I got the gun it had a green coating on the reciever, but a black barrel, and the wood needed cleaning up a fair bit, as the checkering was full of crud.
I decided I liked the green...ALOT, and wanted to do the whole gun over, so I tore it down, and delivered it to Striker for Gun Coating.
I really don't like the Remmy trigger guards, they always look out of place, someone needs to design a more manly, squared version, but all the same I decided I wanted that green as well, so the whole gun was stripped, and cosmetic parts all blasted, then refinished.
Additionally Striker felt the Smiley needed a little highlighting and laid in some black to accentuate the feature.
Over the last week Striker did the metal work, while I cleaned and stripped the wood, getting the checkering all free of debris, and fixing a small chip, then got the wood oiled up again.
Today, all the lego bits got slapped together....
I have the safetly one detent to far over, so I still have to fix that, but I am, really pleased with the look.
The trigger is green.
The triggerguard is green.
The safety and action release are all green.
I find that alone makes her stand out.
Also, rather than polishing the $hit out of the bolt, on a camo oriented gun, I went with a matte finish on it, which I really like.
She sure is a happy lil critter... now maybe a Grizzly to keep it company
