Had these on hand from a couple of years ago and am going to use them next month for the Moose week.

300 Win. Mag is my primary, and the 30-06 is the backup.

Anyone have field experiences with either ?

I'll be zeroing both rifles tomorrow at a distance of 150 yds

Proceed at yer own risk.

Good luck on your hunt.
Moose liver’n un-yuns is yummy.

Don’t furgit the Okanagan panty remover.
Dab oh dat in the cast iron fry pan makes it all the better.

Nothing wrong with either choice IMO …….IF you do your part and put it through the heart/lungs. I understand Surhers point about bullet construction and velocity, however, I also believe that his reservations about the Hornady interlocks may be unfounded. Sure a mono metal will (should?) hold together at blistering speed on impact, however, I have shot a LOT of game from sheep/deer to elk/moose with Hornady 225gr “spire point”,( which I believe is their interlock design) from my .338 @ 2900 FPS muzzle, almost all at <100 yards with virtually no requirement for a second shot and virtually no meat waste. Important to note that I shoot for the heart/ lungs almost always and when placed correctly, there is no meat there to waste (other than the heart itself which I hate to lose). Bottom line, for ME, ability to put the bullet in the engine room FAR outweighs any bullet composition minutia. IOW, a poorly constructed bullet in the right place is far more desirable than a bullet of better construction hitting in the wrong place. Yes I understand that not every shot will be a perfect broad side but placement is still paramount. IMO, you can’t go wrong with either choice if you do your part. Happy hunting.

I’ve shot probably half dozen moose with 180 interlocks out of ,y 300wm. They all died with no tracking required but the cup and core usually separate. This year I’m using Swift A frames.

LOL, oh boy, I wish I was a better writer, that thread was so misunderstood .

I still think basic info about the various ammo types and calibers should be taught during the hunting course

It would be much more beneficial than listening to the instructors decades old hunting stories.

It is but they just tell you the basics. Soft bullets for game.

The amount of brands and shapes out there is a little excessive and could lead new customers to just buy the most expensive round because its "better for moose" when in reality a chunk of lead will work just fine, especially at realistic hunting distances.

Personally I'd prefer the bullets to be reversed - interlock in the 30-06 and TTSX in the 300mag as 300mag velocities are a bit high for a cup-and-core bullet for my liking, and 180gr is heavier then I'd pick for a monometal in 30-06 - but both will kill moose just fine as long as you put 'em where they're supposed to go.
Agree.

Both good solid picks. The 30/06 is a great choice but I might have gone with a bonded bullet vs an interlock for the 300 Win Mag because of the potential velocity being driven.

Still both great choices in the right weight grain for the game you're hunting.
