Black Rifle Optics...

Vortex has good products in that price range, designed a little more for the tactical folks. Probably the direction I would take.
Athlon is the new kid on the block, they have a good warranty, and decent glass and great features for the money.
Can't go wrong with a Burris or a Nikon or a Leupold either. Go try some out and do a bit of research as to which reticle, magnification, and features you want, keeping your budget in mind of course.

Good read. I am trying to decide what kind of AR optic to get. There are lots of options since your original post but the information is timeless. I remember the first ELCAN's on the C-7. There wasn't much training on how to properly mount (eye relief) and adjust it, as most hadn't used optics before and didn't even know how to bore sight (no one seemed to know that you could take the BCG and buffer out to be able to look down the barrel through the butt screw). I can say there was a lot of members that didn't receive FN-C7 conversion training and C7 iron sights-ELCAN training. There was a definite learning curve. Like you said, it did improve PWT scores.

What's a good riser for the Sig Romeo8T? Need as close to 0.725" as possible, QD compatible would be nice too but unnecessary. The sight itself sits at an odd height between lower 1/3 and absolute (1.535") so the standard unity riser doesn't work with it (I need 2.26" risen height). Any good 0.75" risers, for instance?

Side note anyone seen an 8T in stock? Bit hard to catch one here.
