Short barrel 308 rifle, Any suggestions? What scope do you use?

Hi yall, Looking for a short barrel 308. (Left handed options)

I was thinking the savage scout.
Also saw the ruger scout, but that seems a bit pricey.
I would like it to be around 16-18" .
Any suggestions on what is out there?

Rem 783 is a solid -budget- choice. & The Mossberg MVP, both come in 16" & {$6-750} depending}
I got Mossberg as it takes AR or M14 mags.
 
Chopped tp 18.6", threaded with flash hider. illuminated 1x8 LPVO with ACCS reticle for bullet drop out to 800 yards (the scope not me) in QD rings for the irons zeroed at 25 yards.

Legal 10 shot Mambamags.

Faster shooting than a bolt yet won't be banned by Blackface.

All you will get with 2.5" less barrel is more noise and recoil lol.
Trust me, this is mine and it's limited to earmuffs.

What is your goal? Do you just want short? Or do you want short AND light?

I also shoot left, and sadly there aren't a lot of options for both short AND light. (Actually, there isn't a lot of options for short OR light...) My Ruger Single Shot has a 22" barrel, but due to being a break action single shot it is much shorter than a bolt action of similar barrel length. It is not particularly light though at just over 7lb without a scope.

The savage magpul scout weighs in at a portly 8.4lb according to Savage! Thats right about what my hunting rifle weighs with a scope, 4 rounds of ammo, and a sling.

Looking for light and short, going out in the bush. I want a shorter barrel for ease and moneoverbility.
