Short barrel 308 rifle, Any suggestions? What scope do you use?

Hi yall, Looking for a short barrel 308. (Left handed options)

I was thinking the savage scout.
Also saw the ruger scout, but that seems a bit pricey.
I would like it to be around 16-18" .
Any suggestions on what is out there?

Thanks
Browning lever in 308 is an option, compact and lightweight(ish), points well, quick follow up shots. My dad ran one in 358 win. for years. In some cases accuracy can suffer out to longer ranges but for a brush gun within 100 yards it works good, iron sights or a dot is all I’d run on that

my new go to scope is nightforce NX8.
little pricey but so worth it. next ones gonna be metric though. i think it'd make things at the tame easier/ faster since we're Canucks

Currently have Leupold fixed 2.5 ultralight on mine making a 6.25 lb all up and did a ~200 yard antelope perfect so far. Had a 1-6 trijicon on it last season for another pound and did a ~175 yard whitetail on about 2-3x easy peasy also. No time for either to range.

No way, canucks are bilingual and ambidextrous, especially blue collar canucks, we work in both fluently with a lean on sae lol.

See the new tikka ranch rifles? 16" barrels... Might be a contender... Seems like a basic tikka t3x but a short barrel... So naturally its about 500 bucks more expensive then a regular tikka t3x lmao
Yes, when we get suppressors it’s will be good one to look at. I just cut down a stainless lite to 20” to keep the bark in check, but will be ready for a chop and thread when suppressors come. And they are coming ;)
