Opinions on caliber for coyote?

What do inches have to do with anything?
At almost 800 yards the 243 in your description will drop nearly 60 inches from a 100 yard zero, how many MOA adjustment does your scope have
.243 is a great gun for coyotes but from my experience it's tough on coyote pelts if that's your goal. I downsized to a .223 with some slower bullets (62gr) and the damage was minimal at 200 yards. The 58gr .243 bullets really smacked them hard IMHO.
I'm setting one up and pulling out my hair deciding on scope magnification.
I picked up a Winchester in .223 a few weeks ago.
I have many 1" scope rings so my only requirement is a 1" tube
I use a tikka CTR in .223 for coyotes and absolutely love it, some would say the calibre is a little anemic for deer though. .243 (or really any 6mm cartridge with the right bullet) is a great low-recoil option for both imo.

I don’t shoot in MOA or inches. I shoot in MRAD. I dial 4.8 mils for 775 yards.

Nope, not out to that distance, I have zero experience shooting that far.
4.8 mils is 16.16 MOA.
Moa ÷60 equals inches
So 4.8 mils is 26" if I did that right, it's less than ½ the bullet drop from 100 yards to your 775 yards.
Walk me through the math if I messed up

In my opinion a 22-250 is extremely hard to beat putting coyotes on the dirt. Bullet selection matters dramatically if pelt damage is a concern!! As far as the debate about a 243 not being an excellent deer cartridge. This was not the original posters concern. First Im not aware of factory 50 grain or even component bullets being available in 50 gr for 243{6mm}. I have loaded as low as 58gr combined technology bullets in both 243 and 6mm. Everything hit the ground instantly but pelt damage was massive. The 243 was my first rifle for hunting larger game. I harvested at least 20 plus deer before adding to the armoury and adding many different calibres into the stable. Started with factory Win 100 gr PSP then started hand loading with Nosler85gr partitions for the next dozen. Became hard to aquire so swithched to Sierra 85 BTHP Gamekings and harvested 8-10 with these. Ranges differed from 30yrds too 350yards. Not all expired on the spot but none ever required a big tracking job and the longest was with the partition at 85 yards and it went 60 yards shot broadside behind the front shoulder. Unlike the Mercans I dont shoot at bone cuz I want the meat and as much as I can get out of the animal. Im not going to get in any big argument about this gun or that gun, but this is my experience with a 243. My next hunting partner was a 6MM Remington 700 and then my all time fave the 257BEE which I still have. LIGHT SWITCH. Those that know! And as far as the shooting long range, my rimfire rifles can shoot 75-120 moa depending on which gun we are talking about. My custom built semi can reach out to 455 yards with my Kahles and my Vudoo with the new 328i can dial to 550 plus the reticle. So people on here that dont have experience or understand long range shooting should just read and learn instead of commenting about things they have no experince in that makes them look stupid. I dont feel stupid at all, it takes more than idle talk from some guy Google searching ballistics in between replies.
This is partly why shooting sports are doomed, what the the Liberals don't destroy other shooters will.
I'm perfectly capable with my caliber selections and distance applications, I don't live in an area where anything over 250 yards is required or available.

If you are not quick on the uptake,as evident, Im not the only one in dissagrement with you. Youve opened up your lack of knowledge on a subject are are now backpeddling. I find it extremely funny someone accusing another of being an internet warrior as he preaches about some Hornady ballistic buXXshiX. You dont shoot past 250 yards but condem others that can! Then give restrictions on calibres youve obvviously have no experience with. If you cant kill a whitetail deer at 300 yards cleanly you should take up marbles and leave the hunting too others. If you want to show pics of your shooting competition medals , well Ill go down into my gunroom and dig the shXt out of the boxes. Just because you SUCK doesnt mean others cant do what you find imposible.

I use a different caliber all together for range use and shooting to 600 yards is done.
Just not done with a 243 which is what this thread is about.
I can setup on a hydro cut for a 300 yard deer kill but I won't set up there with a 243.
There's no reason to, I have better calibers available.
Maybe you should save up a few bucks and you can buy a couple of different calibers.
I ask the MRAD to MOA conversions to see if he can actually articulate how they relate.
