375 HH Sako - Optics recommendations

I have run the same scope on my 375HH for over 20yrs. Works in Canada, worked in Africa. No reason to change.
The availability of 5x and 6x zoom variables has really brought a lot of new and very good players to the mid-range variable market. That being said, this scope can be had for significantly less money than scopes in the 5x and 6x zoom range. Hoytcanon is selling one right now for $675 that my heart tells me I need. Just have to fight the urges in my brain since I have 5 or 6 scopes currently without rifles!

I see Maven has released a new Rs6, 1-10x28 that would make for a top lpvo contender.

Nice thing about scopes for guns is they are the consumables, or jacket for season etc. The gun stays around and eventually new scopes will come that will suit the gun even better. It would make my lpvo short list quickly. They build stuff that beats the ridiculous rokslide scope drop testing and tracking and top tier Japanese everything, glass, eyebox, they have it all. Will be watch for reviews and compares on this one. Fat tube though (34mm) and 20 oz. but toughness and eyebox and quality comes with some weight. Locking elevation turret plus zero stop. So no need to worry about knocking off zero or even using dialling, and huge dual color choice illumination segmented circle for close range work never needing the reticle hiding within. Capped windage. It’s got it all and would allow you to go danger mode to Precision mode with industry leading tough and glass quality.

Nightforce nx8 1-8 dmx would be on short list also, for a super compact 30mm tube indestructible tank would also do very well at 17 oz.

I have a few new lpvo for sale if you’re still shopping also. German #4 green 1-4 and 1-6 accupoints, Vx5hd 1-5 firedot, possibly vx3hd 1.5-5.

I'd treat it just like a .30-06 when it comes to choosing a scope. In other words, any quality 2-7, 3-9, 4-12 or similar range of scope. I'd want a reticle that looks like crosshairs rather than a street map of New York City and an objective lens no bigger than 40mm. A weight of...as little as possible; scopes of a pound or more are definitely out of the question, and several ounces less would be preferable and easily achieved. No parallax adjustment needed or desired; learn to get into shooting position quickly and consistently with your eye centered behind the eyepiece, and you don't need one. Decent eye relief is a must; a .375 is a hunting rifle, and might be shot from some less-than-ideal positions in the field, so I want that scope as far forward as I can comfortably use. I want an eyepiece that doesn't rotate when the power selector is changed, because I want flip-open lens covers and they don't go well with rotating eyepieces. I want low, capped turrets that are easily finger-adjustable when the covers are off.

And finally...I want two of these scopes, fitted into quality QD rings and both sighted-in and ready to go. Ideally, one would be in the higher and the other in the lower power range; either one might be the "primary" scope on any given hunt depending upon conditions.

I don’t have a Sako 375 at the moment; I’d have to put the 375 barrel back on for that.😂 On the other hand I do have 3 375s, two H&Hs and a Weatherby. VX3 3.5-10 x 40 with B&C reticles on two of them and a Zeiss Diavari 3-9 x 36ish on the other. That one is dangerously close to having too short of eye relief but I got away with it so far.

The 375s are the living embodiment of do it all hunting rifles and deserve an all round scope to compliment it.

Ok there’s another scope to look at lol. Nightforce Nx8 f1 capped 1-8 dmx reticle.

Just look into it. Nothing tougher, etched glass reticles don’t break, their internals don’t move or not track, can dive nails, eye relief enough, 17 oz, 1x with usable t reticle even without illum but with illum turned on it’s beyond daylight bright and fairly big dot to boot, you have the ability to then dial up and reach anytime. Feed it with a ballistic rangefinder and go easy past what you’d want from 375hh.

Took me a minute to find out about it but it’s next scope on my little gp 308 and it would be a top dg rifle set up. Right size and Max versatile with max tough. It would suit well on a nice 375hh which I assume most are. Cant think of a downside, other than price lol.

My Sako 375 has a Burris fullfield IV 2.5-10 x 42 I'm pretty sure. It holds zero perfectly, is very bright and retails somewhere around 300 bucks. I wondered at first but I'm about 100 rounds in and it's pretty good. I've never done the 20 or 40 MOA Square dial test or anything but for a hunting scope it is more than adequate. I'm happy with the 2.5 on the bottom end in case things are at 20 yd but I love the 10 power. Also. I have the same scope in 4.5 to 14 on my 6.5x55 tikka as my main deer rifle. I have a few much nicer Scopes but these just work well.
