BREN TEN........back in action from VLTOR ....(SHOT show release)

1st thing they have done wrong is it should have a full frame dustcover + Light rail

They haven't done anything wrong.

The original Bren10 was designed with the best features of the Browning HiPower and the CZ75.

It never had a full length dust cover nor a rail then and it certainly doesn't need them now.

FWIW I was going to buy an original but when the schekles were ready, Dornhaus and Dixon weren't sending mags with the gun, so you had a paperweight. Mags were made by another company and they sold for $100 - $150 each, and they were getting the money.

I think to own 1 of 1500 ever built with the history the Bren Ten has gives an owner some bragging rights. I know 2 people that own them and they are proud of them and do not at all brag.

Being a hopeless 10mm nut myself, I was very fortunate to stumble across one for sale. I am proud of it and it is a very nice pistol! And yes, I take her out every now and again and run a box through it!

what i was trying to say is, (i think) it needs a full dust cover and rail.
love the 10mm have owned a few 10mm guns but id like a rail and full dustcover if i was to buy another one

I cannot call myself expert in semiautos, but seems to me that those VLTOR folks are missing boat by miles. It always happens when successful businessmen approach firearms manufacturing with same attitude as any other production. It doesn’t work the same way. They should read, listen and shoot. Instead, they just grabbed original design, dusted off and voila; we have new gun on market. Well, if they do not learn now, before starting production, it could be much harder later. Hope I am wrong…

People own Bren Tens to trumpet that they have a Bren Ten. I wish I had one!

I know. Isn't it cool:D

Here's mine and excuse the repeat cause I think I've had this pic up before. But as mentioned by our illustrious friend above, you just can't get enough of these:p I've owned this one since 1985. Bought it brand new from Mountain Man Sports in Cranbrook, BC. They were able to bring in 5 Bren10s. All 5 guns had 2 magazines each. This was unheard of, as some of the US dealers were unable to get 1 mag, never mind 2.

This is one of 4 Standard Models that I've had. I'd love one of the Special Forces models.

There is another site completely dedicated to it. Bren-Ten.com
As with any specialty site, it's not as active as here, but it does get some action and updated fairly regular.

Almost forgot to mention the 5 magazines I've managed to find, and the Milt Sparks Bren Ten holster that was made by Milt himself within days of him passing.

Here's also some rare dies. I got these at the same time as I bought the pistol. They aren't carbide, and in 1985 this set cost $85:eek:.

BTW, the company that tried to resurrect the Peregrine was AMF Voigt. Steve Voigt the owner was a fan of the Bren10, however before anything got past the prototype stage, apparently D&D started a copyright suit. So Voigt decided it wasn't worth it.

Tim Lafrance, of Lafrance Specialties, (short M14s) bought all of the old Bren10 stock. I visited Tim's place in San Diego back in 1992ish and saw all the parts. I purchased the mandatory spare parts list, firing pin, extractor, etc. Lafrance was talking about selling the Bren10 parts as kits and having the new owners build them, themselves. He said he had enough parts to build a few hundred guns. However, Mr. Lafrance being a bit "eccentric" probably had too many irons in the fire.

Very cool koldt!

I also have the same die set & the original box and papers that came with mine.

I recently picked up this factory brochure which I thought was a nice addition to the Bren Ten:

All of the pictures look like artists renditions, they aren't real.

I only have 1 question if it comes to fruition.

ARE THERE ANY MAGS?

I remember when Dornhaus and Dixon brought out the Bren 10 , they shipped a bunch WITHOUT mags and then went t**s up.
I talked to the guys from Vltor at Shot and I asked that same question they stated that Mags would be available .I also mentioned the I.O.U. that was placed in a majority of the pistols sold by D&D

Koldt & Billy.......... Thanks for sharing. Never get tired of seeing the grand-daddy of the 10mm evolution. Now if they could only get back to it the rest of us could have one, too.

BTW, the rail set-up looks like what CZ copied with their 75's.............
