A visa debit card is a debit card, they either have the Visa or the Mastercard logo on them, they are still debit cards with direct access to your bank account.
Why did you not use your credit card if you have one?

I read your post again and I am happy to post it again because it is kind of interesting. I can now see that you are a classy person. I truly hope this is not what happened, if true, I feel bad for you.

I've been a lot more careful with my info since my Visa debit was compromised and had extra charges after buying two mags from F.O.C., right before black Friday. My chequing account was frozen for two months and I wouldn't have been able to pay rent and eat had I not sold a couple of guns. I had to request paper cheques from my employer and didn't know I couldn't pre sign, so Cash Money wouldn't cash it. They need to see you sign it. The whole ordeal was a nightmare. It took another week to get a cheque for that week's pay. After a few weeks of using cheque cashers, my bank finally would allow temporary banking through them. I had to call Tangerine, wait, get a hold of someone , request the security department, wait again to talk to them and confirm a verbal password. I would then have a temporary half hour window to do all banking. It took so long for the investigation. Protect your info."
