compact bolt actions with a full length of pull?

Another way to go is find a rifle you like and have the barrel shortened. A short action or singleshot will be a bit more compact.

Older rifles had the label of being a 'carbine' when they were full-size stock with a shorter barrel
not sure the name is used anymore

Rugers 'Ranch' series have shorter barrels

Ruger m77 compact has short barrel stock. Might be able to add spacers or recoil pad to add length or get another full size stock. As mentioned rem model 7 are nice another is Ruger m77 ultralight and winchester m70 compact

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Looks like it's going to be a compact/ youth rifle purchase and a full size stock purchase. That's fine, i have a couple of otions in mind.model 70 compact or an x bolt micro are 2 early considerations. I love a carbine length rifle for tree stand hunting or still hunting.

You could look at something like a scout rifle if you can live with a 16 or 18” barrel. Ruger m77 gun site scout, savage 110 scout, 110 “hog hunter”, Mossberg mvp, Ruger American ranch. All have full sized stocks

Tikka, Ruger, CVA, Winchester, lots of big names rifles come with a full sized length of pull and shorter barrel options. The Winchester xpr stealth is a hell of a good gun, comes in quite a few chambering a and is only a 16.5" barrel.

I also have a SIG cross, which is very compact and light, with a short barrel. Fits in the back of my extra seat for my quad nicely. And has been my go to rifle for hunting recently. Unbelievably accurate. Currently running 160 grain woodleighs in a 6.5 creedmoor chambering. Drops elk better than my 300 ultra mag.

Black Creek labs also makes some extremely short barreled rifles. I have a howitzer with a 9.5" barrel in 308. Handloads with 220 grain bullets are 1900-2100fps depending on powder, and extremely accurate. Planning on designing a load for a heavy accubond long range bullet, be a absolutly unbeatable rifle on size and pack ability. While having enough oophm for whatever needs to be taken down.

Howa 1500 have 20” barreled .308’s, although it might only be a heavy barrel. Ruger has a fair amount of offerings with short barrel, tikka, CZ trail, there’s a few older Rem options like the 600 or a few of the older pump actions 760/7600 carbines. More choices for compact rifles than ever I’d say

Hello all, thinking of a new deer rifle this year with 20" barrel. i know rhe options are pretty plentiful but most come with youth stocks with sub 13" length of pull. What models are out there with a full size stock?. Thanks
Pretty easy to fit a recoil pad with spacers. You could get the compact and add a spacer (or bigger pad) .... or get the full size and a nice new sharp hacksaw blade (kidding).

A gunsmith can cut your barrel down and re-crown it - or you can get a custom barrel made. Lots of options available.

The savage 110 “hog hunter” has a 20” mid weight barrel and green synthetic adjustable stock but only available in 308 and 223
I had one of those for a number of years. Accurate and nice for the bush. I sold it because I hated the internal box magazine, but in hindsight I should have just looked for a stock replacement

Mine has the blind floor plate magazine also and that is part of what I like about it for simplicity but the current model has a nicer stock and uses the standard model 10 4+1 detachable mag

I have bad circulation in my hands, so loading/unloading those cold shells in the late season got old. I would spring for a newer version now if they had something in the 243-6.5 range (for my wife), but last I heard they didn't offer that

Browning X-Bolt and X-Bolt 2 Speed "SPR". Comes with 18" bbl. My son bought the original version in .308 and it shoots sub moa with 165gr. Pricey but he was looking for "one and done" for ON hunting. The 2 version has adjustable LOP and cheek risers.

The plain X Bolt 2 micro versions come with 20 inch bbls and adjustable stocks as well.
