Hunting with a Pistol?

I would love to hunt deer with a TC Contender chambered in 6.5 JDJ or similar I wont hold my breath

I got my paperwork in order with the ATF and intend to take my 44 mag. down to the USA for a hog hunt this winter. I'll post pictures and let you know how it goes.

If you want to hunt with a handgun, you can go Stateside without much fuss. There is ATF and Canadian paperwrok, but it's not a big deal.

Lots of people in the US use large caliber revolvers but don't hear too much about using pistols.

When we were able to hunt using a handgun, many years ago in Ontario, we had some $hit-for-brains, "Pushing the envelope", wear them into a local pub near the hunting grounds.
The right/privlege whatever was cancelled the following year.
Something to bear in mind if we ever get that back in our lifetimes.

First time I've heard this angle. The only common denominator in the stories is Ontario. The most pausible story I've heard to date was OFHA had handgun hunting squashed by withdrawing support for it.

As to my comment, Yeah, it happened. I don't know if it was the sole cause, but my buddy Bill and I were told it was going to be canceled at the time, because of incidents like the ones I mentioned, by another friend, an RCMP Sgt, dealing with the Federal Migratory Birds act.
He was dealing closely with the Ontario Lands and Flowers people as well as the Ontario law enforcement community.
Sure enough, the following year, All Gone By-By.
Where OFAH et al were in all this I don't know, but I have no doubt they fell down on the job.
One wonders what they'll be doing when the anti's take a run at the semi-auto shotguns and rifles.
