TRIGGERS

I now have 2 Jewel Benchrest triggers on rifles and they are EXCELLENT ! I see Jewel has Gone out of Business now .🤷🏼‍♂️
Still haven’t bought a Bix n Andy yet but I will some time Soon . RJ

I had a jewel trigger in my custom rifle. Then it crapped out on me, and when I got in touch with the smith that put things together he told me they are no longer, and I was thus outta luck. Forget the part that crapped out on it, but no reason to. Was under 300 pulls and 3 years old.

That said they were very comparable to the TT ones. I think the TT triggers are easier to adjust as well compared to the Jewels.

The two stage trigger tech Diamond - when the trigger breaks, how far is a wall beyond?
Does is stops right there at break or the blade still have travel like 1mm or 2mm?

With my BR air rifles I got used to a adjustable trigger pads... I can adjust the pull length, the height, also the L-R angle on pressure pad.

Are you asking about over travel?
That is adjustable on most triggers these days.
Many match triggers are adjustable for length of travel and shoe shape and height

Yes, over travel. I would like to have a slightly more over travel when the trigger sear breaks, I don't want the full solid wall right at that point.
What I have seen on TT triggers the shoe shape is given not interchangeable on the unit itself but need to chose another unit. Or I have not seen them all (on their website).
I asked the TT support if they can send me to any of their wendors I can have a closer look.

I have quite a few Triggertechs for various platforms, including diamonds on several bolt guns. Over-travel is pretty minimal on the diamonds. Haven't measured it, but it's maybe 1mm. My Timneys have a little more travel after the break.
My single-stage diamonds are right at TT's recommended 4oz minimum. Never tried going lower, but 4oz has been issue free for me. My 2-stage diamonds are all right at 8oz (4+4oz as best I can measure). Again no issues.
Only complaint with TTs is not being able to change sear heights. On my Origin I get a bit of pin fall with a TT diamond, which gives a little heavier bolt lift. May switch to a BnA at some point on that platform.

What I would like to see in a target trigger:
- pulling through the first stage spring,
- touch the second stage,
- break the second stage sear, (this where people measuring the force)
- and the finger keeps moving from inertia,
- touch the back wall somewhere beyond 1-2-3 mm = this is a follow through after the shot.

Since I am buying a new trigger I don't really care what Brand and Model, but to have these features. Any pressure point on the trigger blade itself is a bonus.

Just read some of his other nonsense posts about reloading, his target rifle tripod? Project…… the list goes on, if anything it’s entertainment
:) I am at least tinkering and playing and trying out many different scenarios in contrast to some ;)
I am good, thanks.

Like Cat says shape isn’t a big concern But VERY LIGHT AND CRISP is ! 👍
I have always run Jewell 1 oz benchrest triggers. I had them on every F/Bench gun I ever had. Their absence is felt deeply.

I find I keep slapping through a two-stage trigger when I'm on the clock. I like the feel of them more when I'm chilling at the range, but I shoot like sh!t with them under pressure :ROFLMAO: Currently running a Timney HIT on one rifle, quite good for a competition trigger but is no benchrest trigger, and a TriggerTech Diamond on another, and it's just that little bit better. I've noticed also that I prefer a flat trigger, alas neither of my target rifles have one (that was a Sig Cross feature I fell in love with).

Eventually when my plate clears off and I have room to add another project I'd like to take a Bix n' Andy for a spin.

I've fired a lot of different triggers. Ones I'm fond of for precision shooting include the Triggertech Diamond and the Tikka set trigger, while over in the .22 world the Kidd two-stage and the Anschutz trigger are nice. Over on the other extreme would be some solid beasts of triggers, but if you're action shooting then something that won't AD under you can be a very positive feature.

I like my TT s a lot 👍 never had a tikka set but did have a CZ rifle with a set trigger and it was VERY Nice . 👍 RJ

I've tried a lot of them, and pretty much all my rifles have 2 stage Bix's

I love the thin trigger, the adjustability, and the over-travel.

With the sear adjustments you can really dial in the trigger to the action, essentially timing it.

TT's are decent, but I hate the wide trigger shoe, lack of over-travel and adjustability.

Lightest set trigger I ever had was on a Valmet 412 over and under in 308 I owned at one time. Once set, when you touched it, it fired. Traded it for Uberti S&W Schofield in 45. Have a few others, but none that easy to trip. - dan
