Inspire me with your hunting rifle in 308 Winchester !

20" semi custom m98 build. It's a cut down action so it's got a shorter bolt than a std m98. 2-7x32 mounted low on top makes for a great mid range hunting rig. Short and " light" (7.5lbs) love it!

I don't know where I got the idea that he did shotgun sports in the Olympics, as far as I can tell it's not true lol.

Saw an interview where he said he uses a 270...
I’m a .270 guy myself. Pretty sure he uses .308 and .300 Win Mag. Straight-pull is a Blaser R8 iirc. He runs Aimpoints. Shoots Hornady. Cheers.

Well Riflechair, I would love to hear your thoughts and options on the topic! Years ago after watching your video on the CZ .308 Range, I was inspired to grab one before they were all gone. I topped it with a Leupold VX-R 1.25-4 and I have found it to be a fairly good match to the rifle. Very accurate. A little chunky, but in a good way, and very, very accurate. My first hunting rifle was a K98 Mauser that had been rebarreled to .308 and it was a tack driver but a beast for a 12 year old boy to hunt with. A whole bunch of .308 rifles later, I found myself with a blued Browning BLR .308 that was a dream to carry and in a moment of temporary insanity, I sold it to someone who apparently wanted it much more than I did .... that has proven to be an error on my part. I still to this day am looking to replace it with an almost non-existent BLR stainless laminate in the same caliber.

He uses a Merkel RX Helix straight pull in the videos I’ve seen. They sponsor him.
You are correct. The straight pull I’ve seen is definitely Merkel. I also believe he shoots a standard bolt (as seen in the videos) and I thought it was Blaser, maybe Sauer? Could be wrong though.

I've seen him use a use a Sauer 202 in a few videos. In either case, I one parent company owns all of those brands. In either case, he is one heck of a shot.

My best 308 shooter was parker hale if you can stand the 308 in a long action, currently have a Ruger compact 16.5" barrel. What I really have a hankering for is something like Howa super light, but you have to get rid of the awful 2 stage trigger.

Those are all really good choices. I would love to have a Remington 7600 in 308 Winchester but I've settled on the Tikka Arctic in a CTR stock. I prefer the lighter weight and might even shoot this rifle in the 2025 Cabin Fever Challenge. I don't really need (or want) a scope on this rifle and I'd be very interested in attaching some form of illumination for when I'm living up at the cabin. I prefer to run 180gr hornady interlocks out of her to simulate the load these sights were calibrated for.

Vote for Sig cross cheapest bulk ammo falls around 2" with the best match ammo at .5" love carrying it only detractor is the bolt does not stay locked. And can pop open with brush too easily. A low hunting sytly low pro knob would be a good add on

Any chance on a video of the Arctic in the CTR stock?

My now fav .308is a Franchi Momentum Elete true timber bronze toped with a Vortex Diamondback 4-12x40. Great shooter sub moa and not fussy about ammo -I'm shooting Federal Prem 165's for all around Moose Deer, Bear
