Inspire me with your hunting rifle in 308 Winchester !

Those are all really good choices. I would love to have a Remington 7600 in 308 Winchester but I've settled on the Tikka Arctic in a CTR stock. I prefer the lighter weight and might even shoot this rifle in the 2025 Cabin Fever Challenge. I don't really need (or want) a scope on this rifle and I'd be very interested in attaching some form of illumination for when I'm living up at the cabin. I prefer to run 180gr hornady interlocks out of her to simulate the load these sights were calibrated for.
But with a 4 round magazine and the Vortex flash hider removed and a thread protector on the 18.6" barrel.

I really like the older Sako rifles chambered in .308. they have a slim, light action just long enough to work properly with the .308 case. Well made, properly proportioned to be lively in the hands but still handle recoil well, and they seem to always be accurate. I have two presently, an L579 Deluxe and a slightly newer AII deluxe. Wonderful rifles. I also had a M85 stainless ( Grey Wolf) that worked perfectly and was accurate, but my brother in law wanted it worse than I did. No experience with the new M90, but I'd take a chance on one.

I favour the Tikka rifles and have a few. My lone 308 is a Tikka Roughtech Lite (had a T3X varmint in 308 I should not have sold). Put it in a Cadex Tundra Strike chassis. Shoots like a Tikka; well and reliable.4.jpg

For 308 I’m shooting a Model 70 Supergrade with a Winchester branded grizzly leather sling, and a Browning BAR mkii Safari with a browning Latigo sling.

Thompson Center Icon Weathershield. Unfortunately no longer made or available. Great action that’s super smooth. Very short boltthrow with a great safety and trigger that’s adjustable. Super accurate and nice ergonomics!

I gave my oldest son a rem 700 a few years ago and he has taken deer with it every year he's had it. He also lent it to several of his buddies and they have done the same.

I built a sort of M40 clone a couple years later and my younger son has been hunting with it for the last two years. He has put a whitetail in the freezer both times.

These are the best 308s in my mind. I have others, but these two are important in my family.

But all 308s matter.

My wife and I have killed quite a few animals with a Savage Axis and Weatherby Vanguard S2 in .308. From moose to deer, they all fell dead!

My brother and FIL come here quite often to hunt deer and use my Vanguard, they too have killed quite a few deer with it.

My new favorite (though admittedly in 243, but you can find them in 308) is my CZ 557 Lux short action. It sometimes wears a factory synthetic stock, but most times I like the walnut Bavarian stock. The factory irons are excellent! Though it sometimes wears a nice Minox red dot or a 3-9x40. I also have an NECG rear peep sight. It's very versatile, rugged and light enough for woods loafing. Same rifle as the Range series but with a nicer stock and not drilled and tapped. I have two 4-round mags and a 10-round mag which looks cool, but I don't need. It's also just as accurate as all my T3's, but with better mags and less plastic.
