Wow...scary...The G.A.P. is the new calibre from Glock...

When dealing with big calibre, I prefer 1911 with metal receiver instead of polymer...:D

I only keep my Glock 17. Cuz the 22 had most issue of kaboom....:D

Well that's a new one for me!! I have a G22 & G37......lol!! I would be very interested to hear Glocks findings after examining the guns. It doesn't seem likely that it could be a ammunition failure both times and to me although possible, it not likely to be a manufacturer malfunction. I wouldn't be surprised if its a maintenance issue.

Notice that it was the 45 GAP and not the ACP.

I always said the GAP was a cure for a non-existant problem.

Well actually...

"elsewhere in u.s.

Two .45-caliber Glock Model 21 pistols exploded in the hands of two officers at the Portland Police Department, according to a 2004 article in The Oregonian newspaper. That department then switched to 9 mm Glocks."

haha..9mm GLOCK is more safer:D

Every gun could fail. That said, most of the Glock failure is due tu bad reload or deffective ammo's. I won't be surprise if the american gun manufacturer invente such story to bash the gun that stole her market. Like the terrorist-anti-metal-detector buls**t that came out when the Glock hit the american market in the late 80's.

???? Are you really trying to blame US manufacturers for these situations? That is possibly the silliest anti american post yet.
What did Colt do? Did they sneak special high explosive rounds into the police armoury? Did S&W provide the press with hysterical talking points on Glocks?
Come on.
Any department that has a couple failures will likely switch duty guns to stave off lawsuits. Many switch from SIG to glock to S&W all the time. There is no subterfuge involved other than occassional fixed bids.

We are talking about the 1st post - a GAP.

The glock 21 is a pretty solid .45 acp platform. The tenifer finnished upper slide is a solid piece.(it not plastic duh) Some beginner handloaders who used turret presses, sometimes, miss a powder charge thus the primer will lodge a bullet in the barrel. Then re-chambered and boom. I've seen this at least once a year at the range. I've never seen any glock go ka-boom. Any mechanism can can fail and its usually due to neglect, bad ammo and seldom it is a manufacturing error.

It's simply a problem of the rounds being chambered to many times, the cartridge becomes warped from the force and subsequentially kabooms.

Call me crazy but I'm still a Glock fan,
Tim.

Just a thought: is it possible this police force was using reloaded ammo and a .45acp case got into the batch, jacketed bullet gets seated to .45gap OAL. Cartridge feeds throught mag, slams into chamber , but is not fully locked , trigger is pulled , improperly locked gun goes KABOOM. IT SHOULDN'T BE ABLE TO HAPPEN BUT IT MIGHT BE POSSIBLE.

Looking at this diagram, what your suggesting wouldn't be a pretty sight, but how could anyone not notice that when loading up a mag?
