Norinco JW-15A Compact Hiker New Arrival

Got mine last week. Super oily aswell and sights are all crooked. Not sure if it's only mine but they are clearly not aligned also looks like a used unit honestly, this thing is not new by any means

After giving my a wipe off, I'm going to have to take it apart and give it a good shot of Brakleen. There's no way I can clean it off fully without it.

That's fine. No big deal. I kind of expected it from a Chinese gun.

The trigger is basically 2 stage. Hard pull to begin with, first stage, you break that wall, then it takes very little to break the last stage. No trigger pull gauge here to find the actual weight. It's what you would expect from a Chinese gun though.

The front sight is thicc. Time will tell if that's a problem. Going to need to put a bit of nail polish on the tip of it. I've three new guns to fire this weekend and this will be one of them. Will report back on how the irons are from the factory.

All these qualms about stocks....and no ones getting out their chisels.

I just ordered a JW15A tonight and it will encounter the same fate next month.
Can anyone confirm its 100% identical to a CZ so I could sell stocks for the 457 off the same files?
Not even close to the 457. This is a Brno 1 clone... sort of... No 1 stock does not fit either nor does a Mod 2 or 452 stock . Not interchangeable.

Arrived today just 8 days after ordering it.
Thank you Tenda!

For the life of me cannot figure out how to work the bolt to get it in. Whole bolt seems to be seized and won't rotate.

Anyone else have similar issue?

The machining is just poor, the cam surface for the bolt/firing pin is extremely rough. Basically won't start turning without assisting the firing pin assembly to the rear first.

Got it started and worked it a bit. Finally wore it down enough that the bolt handle can engage the cam on the firing pin assy.

I had seen people talking about having to work the bolt in. But they really weren't kidding. Had to work the firing pin assy to the rear using a dowel about two dozen times to get the surface worn enough that the bolt handle assy can engage and get it started.

Other than that, seems like a fun little rifle. Trigger has a heavy but crisp pull with no creep. And I expected the LOP to be ridiculous on my 6'6 frame, but its actually fairly comfortable to shoulder and fits well.

Shot mine after it arrived yesterday. The rear sight is too high. Probably reused from the longer barrel version. My solution was to simply remove the adjustment part and let the rear sight rest directly on the barrel. It worked perfect and now shoots point of aim. Offhand I was hitting a 6” steel plate at 100yds.

Also, my sights are all catty wompus. Definitely misaligned relative to the receiver but somehow when you line them up it shoots where you’re aiming.

Despite it shooting POA, I want to file the front sight down to a smaller point. The front sight post is fat, but usable.

Every three or four rounds I attempt to chamber end up pointing too far up and hit the top edge of the chamber, locking up the bolt and damaging the lead bullet. Happens with two different magazines. Not sure what is causing it. Will try to investigate if it continues, might just need to break in a bit.

I agree regarding the rough machining. Looks like they were using dull tooling for milling various parts of the receiver and bolt. Will polish mine up.

Overall, happy with it for the price. Weighs nothing and shoots where I point.

So I guess that Norinco is still making civilian sporting rifles. I always thought that these Norinco 22s were left overs from the 1990s made for the US market before the Chinese import ban. I really wish that Canadian importers would now import other Chinese rifles that we haven't seen before. For instance if Norinco had a 22 magnum version of this short rifle I would buy it in an instant. We used to also import Chinese competition 22 lrs that were really interesting and accurate. Alot more care was taken in the accessories that you got with the rifle compared to American or European rifles. I would pay $600 for something like that easily.
