You should ponder that statement...
Sometimes old threads need to die, but then gain sometimes there is more relevant information learned and needs to be passed on.
And sometimes two replies in a row say the exact same things lol!!Except a lot of people don't read the whole thread and stuff gets repeated over and over in basically every thread anyways, necro bump or not.

Will take the points made in this thread under advisement for the future, since I was the mod that closed that particular necro thread. Why are old threads now being locked when they are opened up again? What's wrong with further discussion?

Agree, odds are the search button is how they found the thread! One say “it is a 10years old thread lol..”
then an other one say “ use the search button, it’s been discussed over and over again…” that doesn’t make any sense, if you use the search button and get onto something that is relevant to you, you should be able to comment/ask questions on that thread imo!
But then again, as we been seeing since 2.0.. a huge increase in trying to conduct sales outside the EE. Because nobody is reading the rules, or how to access, and just clicking.I prefer the operating system I have seen on many other forums, where attempting to post in a necro-thread is not expressly forbidden...but you will get a warning that #####-slaps you back to wakefulness if you try. "This thread is 72 years old; are you sure you actually want to stir up this can of worms again?"
I think that's a better idea than simply locking the thread outright...although there will still be people who ignore the alert and re-animate the long-dead thread just so they can say "I agree!".
I agree ....... We need more thread police.First, I'd like to suggest this thread be moved to General. I just happened to notice a New Thread title while looking for info and looked out of Curiosity.
Recap issues-

FIX Chrono sequence in SEARCH
NEWBIE FAQ should include :
1) "DON'T Post just to say " ME TOO " or " I AGREE "
2) Don't Post on NECRO threads EVER
3) Don't ask questions until AFTER YOU SEARCH
This is no attack on the mods. But most of the mods are the same, that there was 20 years ago, we are not spring chickens anymore.I agree ....... We need more thread police.
I don't go to the Off-Topics forum, thus the location of this thread.
